is anyone a loner?
well ive arrived at the conclusion that i am in fact a loner. i havent seen any of my "friends" in the last 3 weeks and i just spend all my time by myself now.
i feel really bad too because i want to go hang out with people and do things but everyone else has their own plans now and i dont fit into them.
but i cant help but wonder if this is just part of growing up.

I can be a loner at times but for the most part I like to be with a group of friends.

I think it's really common, especially in the transition from HS to College when lots of people change and move away and that kind of thing...

The key is to make new friends. I've found that in life you and your friends are consently drifting apart and then closer together. It kind of just depends on what everyone has going on in their lives right then.
Of course if you make a conscious effort to insure you have alot of friends then there will always be someone to do things with on a weekend night.

well most my friends have moved away to college since last year and only one of my friends and i have stayed here. they are still local though, going to berkeley and UC santa cruz and santa clara.
but still they have all made new friends and are adapting and i feel like a cat left out in the rain.
but on the bright side ill be going to college in 7-8 months and meeting a lot of other musicians and producers and learning the art as well.

Though I have a lot of friends, I suppose I'm the 'loner' sort... I prefer being by myself working on one of my little projects to being out doing stuff.

Me too.
I only go out and do things with my friends like every other week for one day or something, and mostly because they demand I come and do something.
Tomorrow afternoon I get to go hiking.

I have a small group of good friends, both from high school and college. Other than them, I prefer to be alone.

to further clarify.
I do like being around people. The problem is finding people with similar views/interests as mine. This has been tough. So often I am alone. It's not easy being so different from normal people. Yes I am abnormal .
But there are times I like my alone time.

Bah... you've got nothing on me...
I'm a guy whose favorites are anime, history and computer programming. Find another guy (or especially a girl) with those 3 tastes and I will PAY you...
Well, not really...

I know about 100 such guys at school...
Every week, CSUS (computer science undergrad society) host some anime thing in one of the theatres on campus. They're all really into anime and computers, and a good chunk of them are into history also I'd wager.

I mean outside of 'Poly.
Comp sci and anime kind of go together in a way... much of my hall (the comp sci hall) here is into anime, so those two are easily checked off. The history bit... that one's a bit more difficult to find. The nature of 'Poly attracts those sorts though.
IRL, at my old high school a total of about 15 or 20 out of my entire school (of 2000+) knew what anime was... 1% isn't good odds. I knew ONE person who enjoyed Civ... and that was it.
*Sigh*
I fear I was born into the wrong location.

*raises hand*
half of it is enforced, half of it is self-imposed...
I live literally in the middle of nowhere - it takes me 45 minutes to get to school every morning - so all my friends live miles away and it's so hard to get to see them. The only times we ever do anything together are on special occasions - birthdays, Christmas - because otherwise it's just not practical. I see them at school and we have a great time, but outside of school it's just me n my computer 99% of the time.

You guys aren't alone, you can always come here. If you feel alone or lonely, send me a pm. I'll be happy to be your company...though it's over the computer, company is company.
