hi ,

nah , the first and prime mission by Mark and Dan is a gaming site , not OT , that's why they use the word "ot" , .....

we should not encourage people to post more in the OT , the OT was born for the gamers who wanted ones in a while to talk about something else , ....

have a nice day

The current system is adequate. People are smart enough to make judgements on others based upon something other than people's titles. Yes, some people work harder to get higher titles than others, but all in all, who really cares?

Obviously some posters have given a lot of thought to girth increasing measures.
You've gotta aim to please.
If it works for Loin, it can't be too bad.

I tried to warn you with the "A Spam Too Far", but would you listen?

On the subject of short posts, I tend to prefer a line-to-paragraph post to a longwinded thesis. They are easier to read.

Though I did know a girl once who said that girth was more important than length.
I'm sure glad somebody got to this before I did.

Most questions asked in this forum can be asked or answered in one or two lines.

I like the way the 'Apolytion' boards look. I've seen many people with high posts that responded with short comments that really added nothing to the original post. If this board really wants to do away with spamming, then all post counts should be removed. Then there would be no reward for posts. After all, isn't that what having "King", "Prince" etc. is, a reward for posting, or at least a way of keeping track of posts.

/me mutters "newbie..."

If you mean people like Horsie and Laz, then I have to point out they usually get more sarcasm/irony squeezed into one sentence, rather than a newbie that usually can't get that much included in one paragraph.

Not really. I've seen posters I've never heard of in the OTF with Emporer stats, so I know that they have made a large On Topic contribution.

Some posters, Laz for example, manage to squeese so much humour into their posts, they deserve every, single, last one of those counts. Same with DG specialists (Trip, H Tower to name a couple). They've made huge contributions to the Apolyton community. As a new member, you won't appreciate what we have here at 'lil old Apolyton.net

There is spam here, agreed, but those posts that may not add to the topic, add to the community spirit at Poly. I notice only the "newer" members complain of spam. I've never seen a person who has been registered for 6 months complain about short post lengths, and in time you will come to appreciate that those little sparks of humour and wit.

But they're still an integral part of the Poly community. Mao, Horsie.

But Emporers and such that are registered post-UBB have made big On Topic contributions.

Er - Horsie is a big time Civ2 MPer who makes a lot of on-topic posts. Just because he likes to troll the OT doesn'ty mean he isn't a gamer as well.

I never said Horse wasn't. I know Horsie is still a big CivIIer, but nevertheless he's more famously known (at least to me ) as an Off-Topicer.

It's a shame really, but those who make short posts that are to the point have experience. 'Tis quality and not quantity, and those who are here should know that and understand it.

When in Rome...

Do as the Romans do!

Basically, all those who don't like the fora style should leave. They can't change it with a thread like this. The Apolyton style of posting is here and here to stay.

I think if someone only posted here it might make a difference........but the majority are drawn to this site because of civ, and usually have an on topic presence as well.
