You can read me like a book :P
And look what you did! You pushed Joni onto the last page!
D'oh. Now I'm going to have to post this against anyone posting the CSNY version...
Joni Mitchell - Woodstock
I came upon a child of God
He was walking along the road
And I asked him where are you going
And this he told me
I'm going on down to Yasgur's farm
I'm going to join in a rock 'n' roll band
I'm going to camp out on the land
I'm going to try an' get my soul free
We are stardust
We are golden
And we've got to get ourselves
Back to the garden
Then can I walk beside you
I have come here to lose the smog
And I feel to be a cog in something turning
Well maybe it is just the time of year
Or maybe it's the time of man
I don't know who I am
But you know life is for learning
We are stardust
We are golden
And we've got to get ourselves
Back to the garden
By the time we got to Woodstock
We were half a million strong
And everywhere there was song and celebration
And I dreamed I saw the bombers
Riding shotgun in the sky
And they were turning into butterflies
Above our nation
We are stardust
Billion year old carbon
We are golden
Caught in the devil's bargain
And we've got to get ourselves
back to the garden

How about some Neil Young instead, to avoid temptation?
TONIGHT'S THE NIGHT
-------------------
Tonight's the night, tonight's the night
Tonight's the night, tonight's the night
Tonight's the night, tonight's the night
Tonight's the night, tonight's the night.
Bruce Berry was a working man
He used to load that Econoline van.
A sparkle was in his eye
But his life was in his hands.
Well, late at night when the people were gone
He used to pick up my guitar
And sing a song in a shaky voice
That was real as the day was long.
Tonight's the night, yes it is, tonight's the night
Tonight's the night, yes it is, tonight's the night.
Early in the mornin' at the break of day
He used to sleep until the afternoon.
If you never heard him sing
I guess you won't too soon.
'Cause people let me tell you
It sent a chill up and down my spine
When I picked up the telephone
And heard that he'd died out on the mainline.
Tonight's the night, tonight's the night
Tonight's the night, tonight's the night.
Bruce Berry was a working man
He used to load that Econoline van.
Well, early in the morning at just about the break of day
He used to sleep until the afternoon.
Tonight's the night, yes it is, tonight's the night
Tonight's the night, tonight's the night
Tonight's the night, tonight's the night
Tonight's the night, tonight's the night.
---------------------------------------------------------------
This 2 may be my favorites.
Harvest
Did I see you down in a young girl's town
With your mother in so much pain?
I was almost there at the top of the stairs
With her screamin' in the rain.
Did she wake you up to tell you that
It was only a change of plan?
Dream up, dream up, let me fill your cup
With the promise of a man.
Did I see you walking with the boys
Though it was not hand in hand?
And was some black face in a lonely place
When you could understand?
Did she wake you up to tell you that
It was only a change of plan?
Dream up, dream up, let me fill your cup
With the promise of a man.
Will I see you give more than I can take?
Will I only harvest some?
As the days fly past will we lose our grasp
Or fuse it in the sun?
Did she wake you up to tell you that
It was only a change of plan?
Dream up, dream up, let me fill your cup
With the promise of a man.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Long May You Run
We've been through some things together
With trunks of memories still to come
We found things to do in stormy weather
Long may you run.
Long may you run.
Long may you run.
Although these changes have come
With your chrome heart shining in the sun
Long may you run.
Well, it was back in Blind River in 1962
When I last saw you alive
But we missed that shift on the long decline
Long may you run.
Long may you run.
Long may you run.
Although these changes have come
With your chrome heart shining in the sun
Long may you run.
Maybe The Beach Boys have got you now
With those waves singing "Caroline No"
Rollin' down that empty ocean road
Gettin' to the surf on time.
Long may you run.
Long may you run.
Although these changes have come
With your chrome heart shining in the sun
Long may you run.

Kentucky Rain
Elvis Presley
(words & music by Eddie Rabbit - **** Heard)
Seven lonely days
And a dozen towns ago
I reached out one night
And you were gone
Don't know why you'd run,
What you're running to or from
All I know is I want to bring you home
So I'm walking in the rain,
Thumbing for a ride
On this lonely Kentucky backroad
I've loved you much too long
And my love's too strong
To let you go, never knowing
What went wrong
Kentucky rain keeps pouring down
And up ahead's another town
That I'll go walking thru
With the rain in my shoes,
Searchin for you
In the cold Kentucky rain,
In the cold Kentucky rain
Showed your photograph
To some old gray bearded man
Sitting on a bench
Outside a gen'ral store
They said "Yes, she's been here"
But their memory wasn't clear
Was it yesterday,
No, wait the day before
So I fin'ly got a ride
With a preacher man who asked
"Where you bound on such a dark afternoon?"
As we drove on thru the rain
As he listened I explained
And he left me with a prayer
That I'd find you

Runrig - Flower of the West
Flower Of The West
Sunburst
The morning moar
The light of God
The heart of youth
I look around me
My eyes find their rest on this garden
The flower of the west
The silent skies
An innocent heart
Holding the moment away
From time in the dark
All I see. All I know
Is touching the sacred earth
Warming the hallowed ground
Walk on
Walk on
Walk on
Sunrise
The colour frontier
The ageing light
The sight that knows no fear
I look over Orinsay to the Trumisgarry shore
To Aloter
And the road to Ahmore
The silent skies
An innocent heart
Holding the moment away
From time in the dark
All I see. All I know
Is touching the sacred earth
Warming the hallowed ground
I survive the childhood universe
And I step the naked heath
Where the breathing of the vanished
Lies in acres round my feet
Past Loch Scadavagh Loch Fada
And the flatlands to the east
Where the dark blue mass of Eval
Meets the rising Rock of Lee
Between the Crogary and Maairi
I started to descend
Loch Aongais on my left hand side
I look across to Clett
Collies barking on the outrun
Dunlin dancing on the sand
Breakers show round Corran Vallique
And empty the Atlantic on the strand
The silent skies
An innocent heart
Holding the moment away
From time in the dark
All I see. All I know
Is touching the sacred earth
Warming the hallowed ground
Flower of the west

"A Little Past Little Rock"
by Lee Ann Womack
I had to leave my life in Dallas
That town will always be you
In every crowd on every corner
In every face I'd see you
So with nothin' more than a tank of gas
I drove away without lookin' back
And I guess that's how I got where I am
Goin' anywhere as fast as I can
And I'm a little past Little Rock
Further down the line
Too soon to know what's up ahead
Too late to change my mind
I gotta keep my heart out of this
And both hands on the wheel
I'm learnin' more with every mile
Just how leavin' feels
It's a lonely stretch of blacktop
Out into the blue
Don't know where I'll go or what I'll do
I'm a little past Little Rock
But a long way from over you
These headlights on the highway
Disappear into the dark
And if I could have it my way
I'd go back to where you are
Oh but I can't turn this thing around
And nothin' short of breakin' down
Is gonna get me off this road I'm on
Oh and I'm still a far cry from gone
And I'm a little past Little Rock
Further down the line
Too soon to know what's up ahead
Too late to change my mind
I gotta keep my heart out of this
And both hands on the wheel
I'm learnin' more with every mile
Just how leavin' feels
It's a lonely stretch of blacktop
Out into the blue
Don't know where I'll go or what I'll do
I'm a little past Little Rock
But a long way from over you
I'm a little past Little Rock
But a long way from over you

Triple Play from Spock's Beard
Go the Way You Go 12:07
Look--another heart is beating
but how? why? There must be some way to know
so many roads are weaving
and I wish I knew which way I should go
Go the way you go
You can't know what you don't know
So go the way--go the way you go
So, you say the world is perfect
and all there is is all there could be
but it's all just words to me
can you say more, 'cause I want to know
Go the way you go
You can't know what you don't know
So go the way--go the way you go
Half Moon Bay playin' 45s
hammer's in the window while the mouse man drives
and they're passing cars like people
and they never say the things they know
and the master of disaster is sleepin' in the road
carbon copy of the last place you know
the past is telling how the future will go
and I can't believe you're asking in your mind
I can't believe it's taking so much time
sometimes you know the sun can burn you blind
go the way you go
all kinds of people ain't tied to no mast
got all kinds of visions of future and past
they won't confiscate you; they'll quote you no facts
they are the human tides turning; they are the fires burning
waving their banner of white, the people are right
the people are right, the people are right
ARE THEY RIGHT?
look, another day is breaking
and hot light will soon turn the black to blue
I know these roads are weaving
but it's alright, trust in the roads you choose
go the way you go (and trust what you choose)
you can't know what you don't know
(and there's no way to lose now)
go the way you go (no matter what you do)
you can't know what you don't know
go the way you go
The Good Don't Last 10:04
We could've been God's dream, we could've lived the LIFE
Could've done great things, man it would've been so nice
It could've been me, could've been you,
we could've done everything we wanted to do
I don't know how it happened, but we got it all wrong
The bad don't mean anything and the good don't last too long
We could've watched "Black Like Me",
instead we watched the big guns
and everybody knows the words to "Seasons in the Sun"
Could've had give, could've had take,
could've made anything we wanted to make
so we made "Wheel of Fortune" and all the popular songs
we made a land where crap is king
and the good don't last too long
Now there's darkened doorways creaking in my bed
I've got the Mannix theme song playing in my head
put this one to bed
No words, no denying--The Radiant Is is still here
watching and multiplying, and it's not going to disappear
Harm's Way 11:05
Burned by their fields on a cold stainless day
Blown by the wind, they've got nothing to say
I can't look the other way just to stay out of harm's way
Toes in the dirt, here's a fork in the road
Blood on my shirt and a lump in my throat
I can't look the other way just to stay out of harm's way
Pretty maids in a row tried to hide from the cold
With their heads up high they're just waiting around to die
The word resigned comes to mind,
the leaders race while we fall behind
But they can't touch the sky, they're just waiting around to die
Touched by the gold as the moment is framed
no one will look so no one is blamed
I can't look the other way, I won't stay out of harm's way
The Venus slowly rises in the night,
the people softly lit by restless moonlight
And as the jackal preys upon the netherworld,
you can hear as she surprises and sings "RISE!"
And as the jackal preys upon the netherworld,
you can hear her as she rises and sings "RISE!"
Touched by the wind as the movement returns,
now we begin all the lessons to learn
I can't look the other way, I won't stay out of harm's way

Triple Shot Thursday; Toby Keith
I Wanna Talk About Me
We talk about your work how your boss is a jerk
We talk about your church and your head when it hurts
We talk about the troubles you've been having with your brother
About your daddy and your mother and your crazy ex-lover
We talk about your friends and the places that you've been
We talk about your skin and the dimples on your chin
The polish on your toes and the run in your hose
And God knows we're gonna talk about your clothes
You know talking about you makes me smile
But every once in awhile
I wanna talk about me
Wanna talk about I
Wanna talk about number one
Oh my me my
What I think, what I like, what I know, what I want, what I see
I like talking about you, usually, but ocassionally
I wanna talk about me
I wanna talk about me
We talk about your dreams and we talk about your schemes
your high school team and your moisturizer creme
We talk about your nanna up in Muncie, Indiana
We talk about your grandma down in Alabama
We talk about your guys of every shape and size
The ones that you despise and the ones you idolize
We talk about your heart, about your brains and your smarts
And your medical charts and where you start
You know talking about you makes me grin
But every now and then
I wanna talk about me
Wanna talk about I
Wanna talk about number one
Oh my me my
What I think, what I like, what I know, what I want, what I see
I like talking about you, usually, but ocassionally
I wanna talk about me
I wanna talk about me
You you you you you you you you youyouyouyouyou
I wanna talk about me
I wanna talk about me
Wanna talk about I
Wanna talk about number one
Oh my me my
What I think, what I like, what I know, what I want, what I see
I like talking about you, usually, but ocassionally
I wanna talk about me
I wanna talk about me

She Ran Away With A Rodeo Clown
She's a top barrel racer
Cowboy chaser
She drinks tecate like it's goin' out of style
She's real good lookin' And pretty good at hookin'
Any man she wants with just a little smile
I drawed a strong one
A big full grown one
He punched me out when I hit the ground
I came to with a panoramic view
Lookin' for my baby
She was nowhere around
I looked up, I looked down
I ain't seen her since the second go-'round
Somebody said they seen her headin' out of town
Now she ran away with a rodeo clown
She ran away with a rodeo clown
She's got twenty-two dollars
And makeup on her collar
She left some clothes so she's travelin light
But I'll bet a new saddle
And forty head of cattle
That I could catch 'em both if I drove all night
But this don't make sense
She's done jumped the fence
And I'm speedin' cross Texas on a broken heart
I'm goin' home where the coyote roam
Makin' my camp at the end of the bar
I looked up, I looked down
I ain't seen her since the second go-'round
Somebody said they seen her headin' out of town
Now she ran away with a rodeo clown
She ran away with a rodeo clown
I looked up, I looked down
I ain't seen her since the second go-'round
Somebody said they seen her headin' out of town
Now she ran away with a rodeo clown
She ran away with a rodeo clown

Dream Walkin'
She left a yellow rose and a long neck bottle
On a table beside my bed
With a short little note that said I had a good time
It was written in lipstick red
She didn't sign her name I wonder
If that a little secret that she keeps
Ooo... she's walkin' around in my sleep
Dream walkin', pillow talkin'
She's callin' my name again
Day's breakin' I ain't wakin' up, I'm sleepin' in
I'm on a roll now, I gotta know how this dream ends
She took my new sunglasses and my old jean jacket
And she never even bothered to ask
You could say I haven't seen her since late last summer
But every night she comes back
Just like smoke through the keyhole
She slips in so silently
Ooo... she's walkin' around in my sleep
Dream walkin', pillow talkin'
She's callin' my name again
Day's breakin' I ain't wakin' up, I'm sleepin' in
I'm on a roll now I gotta know how this dream ends
Ooo... there's a thin line between dreams and memories
I'll be losin' my mind 'till she comes back to me
Dream walkin', pillow talkin'
She's callin' my name again
Day's breakin I ain't wakin' up, I'm sleepin' in
I'm on a roll now I gotta know how this dream ends
I'm on a roll now I gotta know how this dream ends
I'm on a roll now I gotta know how this dream ends
She's walkin' around in my sleep
She's walkin' around in my sleep

" Not A Day Goes By "
Got a picture of you I carry in my heart
Close my eyes to see it when the world gets dark
Got a memory of you I carry in my soul
I wrap it close around me when the nights get cold
If you asked me how I'm doin' I'd say just fine
But the truth is baby, if you could read my mind
Not a day goes by that I don't think of you
After all this time you're still with me it's true
Somehow you remain locked so deep inside
Baby, baby, oh baby, not a day goes by
I still wait for the phone in the middle of the night
Thinkin' you might call me if your dreams don't turn out right
And it still amazes me that I lie here in the dark
Wishin' you were next to me, your head against my heart
If you asked me how I'm doing I'd say just fine
But the truth is baby, if you could read my mind
Not a day goes by that I don't think of you
After all this time you're still with me it's true
Somehow you remain locked so deep inside
Baby, baby, oh baby, not a day goes by
Minutes turn to hours, and the hours to days
Seems it's been forever that I've felt this way
Not a day goes by that I don't think of you
After all this time you're still with me it's true
Somehow you remain locked so deep inside
Baby, baby, oh baby, not a day goes by that I don't think of you.

If you think the lyrics are weird, try getting the tune, its very fun
Manu Chao - Bongo Bongo
Mama was queen of the mambo
papa was king of the kongo
deep down in a djungle
last up banging life has Bongo
Everybody like to be
in my place instead of me
cause I´m the king of Bongo
baby I´m the king of Bongo Bong
I went to the big town
where there is a lot of sound
from the djungle to the city
looking for a bigger crown
So I play my Bongee
for the people of this city
but they don´t go crazy
when I´m banging all my boogie
I´m the
Refrain:
King of the Bongo
King of the Bongo
Hear me when I come, baby
King of the Bongo
King of the Bongo
Nobody like to be
in my place instead of me
cause nobody go crazy
when I´m banging all my boogie
I´m a king without a crown
and I´m loosing a big town
but I´m the king of Bongo
baby I´m the king of Bongo Bong
Refrain
They said that I´m a clown
liking too much dirty sound
they said there is no place
for little monkey in this town
Nobody like to be
in my place instead of me
cause nobody go crazy
when I´m banging all my boogie
I´m the
Refrain
Banging all my boogie
all that swing belongs to me
I´m so uppy there´s nobody
in my place instead of me
I´m a king without a crown
and loosing a big town
but I´m the king of Bongo
baby I´m the king of Bongo Bong
Refrain
Mama was queen of the mongo
papa was king of the kongo
deep down in a djungle
last up banging life has Bongo
Everybody like to be
in my place instead of me
cause I´m the king of Bongo
baby I´m the king of Bongo Bong

Isn't It Time
The Babys
Falling in love was the last thing I had on my mind
Holding you is a warmth that I thought I could never find
(Sitting here all alone)
Just trying to decide
(Whether to go all alone)
Or stay by your side
(Then I stop myself because)
I know I could cry
I just can't find the answers
To the questions that keep going through my mind
Hey babe
Isn't it time
(Isn't it time it took time to wait)
(Falling in love could be your mistake)
Isn't it time
(Isn't it time you took time to wait)
(Falling in love could be your mistake)
I've seen visions of someone like you in my life
A love that's strong reaching out
Holding me through the darkest night
(Sitting here all alone)
Just trying to decide
(Whether to go all alone)
Or stay by your side
(Then I stop myself because)
I don't want to cry
I just can't find the answers
To the questions that keep going through my mind
Hey babe
Isn't it time
(Isn't it time it took time to wait)
(Falling in love could be your mistake)
Isn't it time
(Isn't it time you took time to wait)
(Falling in love could be your mistake)
I feel a warmth in my heart
And my soul that I never knew
This love affair gives me strength
That I need just to get me through
(Sitting here all alone)
Just wondering why
(Then I stop myself because)
I know I could cry
(Then I think of you)
And everything seems alright
I've finally found the answers
To the questions that keep going through my mind
Hey babe
Isn't it time
(Isn't it time you don't have to wait)
(Don't have to wait)
I know it's time
(Losing this love could be your mistake)
Ooh yeah
(Isn't it time)
I know it's time
(Isn't it time you don't have to wait)
It must be time
(Don't have to wait)
(Losing this love could be your mistake)
(Isn't it time)
It must be time
(Isn't time you don't have to wait)
(Don't have to wait)
It oughta be time
(Losing this love could be your mistake)
(Isn't it time)
(Isn't it time you don't have to wait)
(Don't have to wait)
It must be time
(Losing this love could be your mistake)
(Isn't it time)
(Repeat and fade)

What You Are, Audioslave.
And when you wanted me
I came to you
And when you wanted someone else
I withdrew
And when you asked for a light
I set myself on fire
And if I go far away I know
You’ll find another slave
Cause now I’m free from what you want
Now I’m free from what you need
Now I’m free from what you are
And when you wanted blood
I cut my veins
And when you wanted love
I bled myself again
Now that I’ve had my fill of you
I’ll give you up forever
And here I go far away
I know you’ll find another slave
Cause now I’m free from what you want
Now I’m free from what you need
Now I’m free from what you are
Then a vision came to me
When you came along
I gave you everything
But then you wanted more
Cause now I’m free from what you want
Now I’m free from what you need
Now I’m free from what you are

In 1965 Vietnam seemed like just another foreign war,
but it wasn't.
It was different in many ways, as so were those that did the fighting.
In World War II the average age of the combat soldier was 26...
In Vietnam he was 19.
In inininininin Vietnam he was 19.
(TV announcer's voice)
The shooting and fighting of the past two weeks continued today
25 miles west of Saigon
I really wasn't sure what was going on (Vet's Voice)
Nininini Nineteen, 19, Ni-nineteen 19
19,19,19,19
In Vietnam the combat soldier typically served a twelve month tour of duty but
was exposed to hostile fire almost everyday
Ninininininininininin 19 nininininninin 19
Hundreds of Thousands of men who saw heavy combat in Vietnam were arrested
since discharge
Their arrest rate is almost twice that of non-veterans of the same age.
There are no accurate figures of how many of these men have been incarcerated.
But, a Veterans Administration study concludes that the greater of Vets
exposure to combat could more likely affect his chances of being arrested or
convicted.
This is one legacy of the Vietnam War
(Singing Girls)
All those who remember the war
They won't forget what they've seen..
Destruction of men in their prime
whose average was 19
Dedededededede-Destruction
Dedededededede-Destruction
War, War
Dededede-Destruction, wa-wa-War, wa-War, War
Dedededededede-Destruction
War, War
After World War II the Men came home together on troop ships, but the Vietnam
Vet often arrived home within 48 hours of jungle combat
Perhaps the most dramatic difference between World War II and Vietnam was
coming home.. .none of them received a hero's welcome
None of them received a heroes welcome, none of them, none of them
Nenene Nenene None of them, none of them, none of them (etc...)
None of them received a hero's welcome
None of them received a hero's welcome
According to a Veteran's Administration study
Half of the Vietnam combat veterans suffered from what Psychiatrists call
Post-Traumatic-Stress-Disorder
Many vets complain of alienation, rage, or guilt
Some succumb to suicidal thoughts
Eight to Ten years after coming home almost eight-hundred-thousand men are
still fighting the Vietnam War
(Singing Girls)

When we came back it was different.. Everybody wants to know "How'd it
happened to those guys over there
There's gotta be something wrong somewhere
We did what we had to do
There's gotta be something wrong somewhere
People wanted us to be ashamed of what it made us
Dad had no idea what he went to fight and he is now
All we want to do is come home
All we want to do is come home
What did we do it for
All we want to do is come home
Was it worth it?

Have a safe Memorial Day Weekend

Lightning Seeds - Marvellous
Oh you hope to fit, but you're fit to drop
Open up the window and jump into the blue
Things could be marvellous
Things could be fabulous
Oh you need a push, I'll push you off
Open up the window and jump into the blue
Things could be marvellous soon
Oh you hate to hit till you hit the top
Open up the window and jump into the blue
Things could be marvellous
Things could be fabulous soon
Oh well, these are the days and this is the life
They'll always be something
On your mind
You'll never quite find
Won't you never make your mind up
Now you'll never be sure if this is the time
If this is the moment, the end of the line
You'll never decide
You sit there and wait for the phone to ring
When are they gonna call?
Are they ever gonna call you at all?
Things could be marvellous
Things could be fabulous soon
You used to know but now you've forgotten
The submarine got stuck to the bottom
These are the days so wake up 'cause this is the time
And you know I'm right

Beer For My Horses
Toby Keith with Willie Nelson
Well, a man come on the 6 o'clock news,
Said somebody's been shot, somebody's been abused.
Somebody blew up a building, somebody stole a car.
Somebody got away. somebody didn't get too far, yeah.
They didn't get too far.
Grandpappy told my pappy: "Back in my day, son,
"A man had to answer for the wicked that he done.
"Take all the rope in Texas, find a tall oak tree,
"Round up all of them bad boys, hang them high in the street,
"For all the people to see that:
"Justice is the one thing you should always find.
"You got to saddle up your boys,
"You got to draw a hard line.
"When the gunsmoke settles, we'll sing a victory tune.
"We'll all meet back at the local saloon,
"We'll raise up our glasses against evil forces,
"Singing: 'Whiskey for my men, beer for my horses.'"
We got too many gangsters doing dirty deeds,
We've got too much corruption, too much crime in the streets.
It's time the long arm of the law put a few more in the ground.
Send 'em all to their maker and he'll settle 'em down:
You can bet he'll settle 'em down 'cause,
Justice is the one thing you should always find.
You got to saddle up your boys,
You got to draw a hard line.
When the gunsmoke settles, we'll sing a victory tune.
We'll all meet back at the local saloon,
We'll raise up our glasses against evil forces,
Singing: "Whiskey for my men, beer for my horses."

I left sixth form on Friday...
Baz Lurhmann - Everybody's Free (To Wear Sunscreen)
Ladies and Gentlemen of the class of ’99...
Wear Sunscreen
If I could offer you only one tip for the future, sunscreen would be it. The long term benefits of sunscreen have been proved by scientists whereas the rest of my advice has no basis more reliable than my own meandering experience…I will dispense this advice now.
Enjoy the power and beauty of your youth; oh nevermind; you will not understand the power and beauty of your youth until they have faded. But trust me, in 20 years you’ll look back at photos of yourself and recall in a way you can’t grasp now how much possibility lay before you and how fabulous you really looked….You’re not as fat as you imagine.
Don’t worry about the future; or worry, but know that worrying is as effective as trying to solve an algebra equation by chewing bubblegum. The real troubles in your life are apt to be things that never crossed your worried mind; the kind that blindside you at 4pm on some idle Tuesday.
Do one thing everyday that scares you
Sing
Don’t be reckless with other people’s hearts, don’t put up with people who are reckless with yours.
Floss
Don’t waste your time on jealousy; sometimes you’re ahead, sometimes you’re behind…the race is long, and in the end, it’s only with yourself.
Remember the compliments you receive, forget the insults; if you succeed in doing this, tell me how.
Keep your old love letters, throw away your old bank statements.
Stretch
Don’t feel guilty if you don’t know what you want to do with your life…the most interesting people I know didn’t know at 22 what they wanted to do with their lives, some of the most interesting 40 year olds know still don’t.
Get plenty of calcium.
Be kind to your knees, you’ll miss them when they’re gone.
Maybe you’ll marry, maybe you won’t, maybe you’ll have children, maybe you won’t, maybe you’ll divorce at 40, maybe you’ll dance the funky chicken on your 75th wedding anniversary…what ever you do, don’t congratulate yourself too much or berate yourself either – your choices are half chance, so are everybody else’s. Enjoy your body, use it every way you can…don’t be afraid of it, or what other people think of it, it’s the greatest instrument you’ll ever own..
Dance…even if you have nowhere to do it but in your own living room.
Read the directions, even if you don’t follow them.
Do NOT read beauty magazines, they will only make you feel ugly.
Get to know your parents, you never know when they’ll be gone for good.
Be nice to your siblings; they are the best link to your past and the people most likely to stick with you in the future.
Understand that friends come and go,but for the precious few you should hold on. Work hard to bridge the gaps in geography in lifestyle because the older you get, the more you need the people you knew when you were young.
Live in New York City once, but leave before it makes you hard; live in Northern California once, but leave before it makes you soft.
Travel.
Accept certain inalienable truths, prices will rise, politicians will philander, you too will get old, and when you do you’ll fantasize that when you were young prices were reasonable, politicians were noble and children respected their elders.
Respect your elders.
Don’t expect anyone else to support you. Maybe you have a trust fund, maybe you have a wealthy spouse; but you never know when either one might run out.
Don’t mess too much with your hair, or by the time it’s 40, it will look 85.
Be careful whose advice you buy, but, be patient with those who supply it. Advice is a form of nostalgia, dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it’s worth.
But trust me on the sunscreen...

A SUMMER SONG
Chad & Jeremy
Trees swayin' in the summer breeze
Showin' off their silver leaves
As we walked by
Soft kisses on a summer's day
Laughing all our cares away
Just you and I
Sweet sleepy warmth of summer nights
Gazing at the distant lights
In the starry sky
They say that all good things must end some day
Autumn leaves must fall
But don't you know that it hurts me so
To say goodbye to you
Wish you didn't have to go
No no no no
And when the rain
Beats against my window pane
I'll think of summer days again
And dream of you
They say that all good things must end some day
Autumn leaves must fall
But don't you know that it hurts me so
To say goodbye to you
Wish you didn't have to go
No no no no
And when the rain
Beats against my window pane
I'll think of summer days again
And dream of you
And dream of you

Okay, just before this thread reaches 500:
A song that's about where all good music comes from, Bob Marley's Buffalo Soldier...
Quote:
|
Buffalo Soldier, Dreadlock Rasta
There was a Buffalo Soldier
In the heart of America
Stolen from Africa, brought to America
Fighting on arrival, fighting for survival
I mean it, when I analyse the stench
To me, it makes a lot of sense
How the Dreadlock Rasta was the Buffalo Soldier
And he was taken from Africa, brought to America
Fighting on arrival, fighting for survival
Said he was a Buffalo Soldier, Dreadlock Rasta
Buffalo Soldier, in the heart of America
If you know your history
Then you would know where you coming from
Then you wouldn't have to ask me
Who the heck do I think I am
I'm just a Buffalo Soldier
In the heart of America
Stolen from Africa, brought to America
Said he was fighting on arrival
Fighting for survival
Said he was a Buffalo Soldier
Win the war for America
Dreadie, woe yoe yoe, woe woe yoe yoe
Woe yoe yoe yo, yo yo woe yo, woe yoe yoe
(repeat)
Buffalo Soldier, trodding through the land
Said he wanna ran, then you wanna hand
Trodding through the land, yea, yea
Said he was a Buffalo Soldier
Win the war for America
Buffalo Soldier, Dreadlock Rasta
Fighting on arrival, fighting for survival
Driven from the mainland
To the heart of the caribbean
Singing, woe yoe yoe, woe woe yoe yoe
Woe yoe yoe yo, yo yo woe yo woe yo yoe
(repeat)
Trodding through San Juan
In the arms of America
Trodding through Jamaica, a Buffalo Soldier
Fighting on arrival, fighting for survival
Buffalo Soldier, Dreadlock Rasta
Singing, woe yoe yoe, woe woe yoe yoe
Woe yoe yeo yo, yo yo woe yo woe yo yoe
