Po-Jama People
Frank Zappa & The Mothers of Invention
Some people's hot
Some people's cold
Some people's not very
Swift to behold
Some people do it
Some see right through it
Some wear pyjamas
If only they knew it
The pyjama people are boring me to pieces
They make me feel like I am wasting my time
They all got flannel up 'n down 'em
A little trap-door back aroun' 'em
An' some cozy little *footies* on their mind
Po-jama people!
Po-jama people, people!
Lawd, they make you sleepy
With the things they might say
Po-jama people!
Po-jama people, people!
*Mother, Mary 'n Jozuf*, wish they'd all go away!
Po-jama people!
It's a po-jama people special...
Take one home with you & save a dollar today
Po-jama people!
Po-jama people, people!
Wrap 'em up
Roll 'em out
Get 'em out of my way

Analyze by the Cranberries
Close your eyes
Close your eyes
Breathe the air out there
We are free, we can be wide open
For you open my eyes
To the beauty I see
We will pray, we will stay
Wide open
Don´t analyse
Don´t analyse
Don´t go that way
Don´t live that way
That would paralyse your evolution
Don´t analyse
Don´t analyse
Don´t go that way
Don´t live that way
That would paralyse your evolution

Generator
Bad Religion
Like a rock,
like a planet,
Like a ****ing atom bomb,
I'll remain unperturbed by the joy and the madness
that i encounter everywhere I turn
I've seen it all before
In book and magazines
like a twitch before dying
like a pornographic sea
there's a flower behind the window
there's an ugly laughing man
like a hummingbird in silence
like the blood on the door
it's the generator
oh yeah, oh yeah, like the blood on my door
wash me clean and I will run
until i reach the shore
I've known it all along
like the bone under my skin
like actors in a photograph
like paper in the wind
there's a hammer by the window
there's a knife on the floor
like turbines in darkness
like the blood on my door
it's the generator

Lutricia McNeal - Ain't That Just The WAy
He was a very special warm and gentle person
Who put music in the world and spoke in rhyme
And it hurts me that I never really knew him
‘Cause all it would have taken was some time
You know he always seemed to be there when I stumbled
And when mountains got to steep for me to climb
And it tears me up to think I never touched him
‘Cause all it would have taken was some time
Ain't that just the way that life goes
Down, down, down, down
Movin' way too fast or much too slow
Gettin' up, gettin' high, gettin' down
Gettin' no, no, nowhere
But not gettin' into someone I should know
Now he's in another place and I can't reach him
And I feel as though I'm guilty of a crime
I took all he had to give and gave him nothin'
And all it would have taken was some time
Ain't that just the way that life goes
Down, down, down, down
Movin' way too fast or much too slow
Gettin' up, gettin' high, gettin' down
Gettin' no, no, nowhere
But not gettin' into someone I should know
Ain't that just the way that life goes
Down, down, down, down
Movin' way too fast or much too slow...

The End Of Camelot
Peter Cetera
Here I go again
Driving to the edge of town
Need to be alone when I'm thinking
With no one else around
I've always been a dreamer
And from here I dream a lot
And now I see the end of Camelot
(chorus)
If anyone could have a change of heart
Maybe you could change your mind
But if you're giving up - If you're letting go
Don't let me be the last to know
Here I go again
Walking down the same old streets
I don't wanna see anybody
I wanna be discreet
I'm a firm believer
And I once believed in you
But now I can't believe all the things
You're putting me through
chorus
I'm not thinking straight - I'm not feeling great
I'm not sleeping too well
I'm not doing what I know I can - I can't help myself
Only time will tell
chorus

Policy of Truth by Depeche Mode
you had something to hide
should have hidden it, shouldn't you
now you're not satisfied
with what you're being put through
its just time to pay the price
for not listening to advice
and deciding in your youth
on the policy of truth
things could be so different now
it used to be so civilized
you will always wonder how
it could have been if you'd only lied
it's too late to change events
its time to face the consequence
for delivering the proof
in the policy of truth
never again is what you swore, the time before
never again is what you swore, the time before
now you're standing there tongue tied
you'd better learn your lesson well
hide what you have to hide
and tell what you have to tell
you'll see your problems multiplied
if you continually decide
to faithfully pursue
the policy of truth
never again is what you swore, the time before
I'm An ******* by Dennis Leary
Folks, Id like to sing a song about the American Dream
About me, about you
About the way our American hearts beat way down in the bottom of our chests
About that special feeling we get in the cockles of our hearts
Maybe below the cockles,
Maybe in the sub cockle area,
Maybe in the liver, maybe in the kidneys,
Maybe even in the colon, we dont know
Im just a regular Joe, with a regular job
Im your average white, suburbanite slob
I like football and porno and books about war
I got an average house, with a nice hardwood floor
My wife and my job, my kids and my car
My feet on my table, and a Cuban cigar
But sometimes that just aint enough to keep a man like me interested
(oh no, no way, uh uh)
No I gotta go out and have fun at someone elses expense
(woah yeah, yeah yeah, yeah yeah yeah)
I drive really slow in the ultra fast lane
While people behind me are going insane
Im an ******* (hes an *******)
Im an ******* (hes an *******, such an *******)
I use public toilets and I piss on the seat
I walk around in the summer time saying "how about this heat?"
Im an ******* (hes an *******)
Im an ******* (hes the worlds biggest *******)
Sometimes I park in handicapped spaces
While handicapped people make handicapped faces
Im an ******* (hes an *******)
Im an ******* (hes a real ****ing *******)
Maybe I shouldnt be singing this song
Ranting and raving and carrying on
Maybe theyre right when they tell me Im wrong
Nah
Im an ******* (hes an *******)
Im an ******* (hes the worlds biggest *******)
You know what Im gonna do
Im gonna get myself a 1967 Cadillac Eldorado convertible
Hot pink, with whale skin hubcaps
And all leather cow interior
And make brown baby seal eyes for head lights (yeah)
And Im gonna drive in that baby at 115 miles per hour
Gettin' 1 mile per gallon,
Sucking down Quarter Pounder cheeseburgers from McDonalds
In the old fashioned non-biodegradable styrofoam containers
And when Im done sucking down those greeseball burgers
Im gonna wipe my mouth with the American flag
And then Im gonna toss the styrofoam containers right out the side
And there aint a goddamn thing anybody can do about it
You know why, because weve got the bombs, thats why
2 words, nuclear ****ing weapons, OK?
Russia, Germany, Romania, they can have all the democracy they want
They can have a big democracy cakewalk
Right through the middle of Tiananmen Square
and it wont make a lick of difference
Because weve got the bombs, OK?
John Wayne's not dead, hes frozen, and as soon as we find a cure for cancer
Were gonna thaw out the duke and hes gonna be pretty pissed off
You know why,
Have you ever taken a cold shower, well multiply that by 15 million times
Thats how pissed off the dukes gonna be!
I'm gonna get the Duke, and John Cassavetes,
and Lee Marvin, and Sam Peckinpah, and a case of whiskey,
and drive down to Texas and say.....
(Hey! You know, you really are an *******!)
Why don't you just shut up and sing the song, pal?
Im an ******* (hes an *******)
Im an ******* (hes the worlds biggest *******)
A-S-S-H-O-L-E
Everybody
A-S-S-H-O-L-E
Im an ******* and Im proud of it

Be Here Now- George Harrison
Remember, Now, Be Here Now
As it's not like it was before.
The past, was, Be Here Now
As it's not like it was before - it was
Why try to live a life,
that isn't real,
no how
A mind, that wants to wander,
'round a corner,
is an un-wise mind
Now, Is, Be Here Now
and it's not what it was before,
Remember, Now, Be Here Now
as it's not like it was before - it was
Brainwashed- George Harrison
Brainwashed in our childhood
Brainwashed by the school
Brainwashed by our teachers
and brainwashed by their rules
Brainwashed by our leaders
By our Kings and Queens
Brainwashed in the open and brainwashed
behind the scenes
God God God
A voice cried in the wilderness
God God God
it was on the longest night
God God God
An eternity of darkness
God God God
Someone turned out the spiritual light
Brainwashed by the Nikkei
Brainwashed by Dow Jones
Brainwashed by the FTSE
Nasdaq and secure loans
Brainwashed us from Brussels
Brainwashing us in Bonn
Brainwashing us in Washington
Westminster in London
God God God
You are the wisdom that we seek
God God God
The lover that we miss
God God God
Your nature is eternity
God God God
You are Existance, Knowlwedge, Bliss
The soul does not love, it is love itself
It does not exist, It is existence itself
It does not know, It is knowledge itself
"How to Know God" Page 130
They brainwashed my great uncle
Brainwashed my cousin Bob
They even got my grandma when she was
working for the mob
Brainwash you while you're sleeping
While you're in a traffic jam
Brainwash you while you're weeping
While still a baby in your pram
Brainwashed by the Military
Brainwashed under duress
Brainwashed by the media
You're brainwashed by the press
Brainwashed by computer
Brainwashed by mobile phones
Brainwashed by the satellite
Brainwashed to the bone
God God God
Won't you lead us through this mess
God God God
From the places of concrete
God God God
Nothing's worse than ignorance
God God God
I just won't accept defeat
God God God
Must be something I forgot
God God God
Down on Bullshit Avenue
God God God
If we can only stop the rot
God God God
Wish that you'd brainwash us too

What's the ugliest
Part of your body?
What's the ugliest
Part of your body?

Some say your toes

UNFORTUNATE VICTIMS OF
SYSTEMS BEYOND THEIR CONTROL
A PLAGUE UPON YOUR IGNORANCE & THE GRAY
DESPAIR OF YOUR UGLY LIFE

When she went to town?
Who are all those creeps
That she brings around?
ALL YOUR CHILDREN ARE POOR
UNFORTUNATE VICTIMS OF LIES YOU BELIEVE
A PLAGUE UPON YOUR IGNORANCE THAT KEEPS
THE YOUNG FROM THE TRUTH THEY DESERVE . .

Behind Blue Eyes
The Who
No one knows what it's like
To be the bad man
To be the sad man
Behind blue eyes
No one knows what it's like
To be hated
To be fated
To telling only lies
But my dreams
They aren't as empty
As my conscience seems to be
I have hours, only lonely
My love is vengeance
That's never free
No one knows what it's like
To feel these feelings
Like I do
And I blame you
No one bites back as hard
On their anger
None of my pain and woe
Can show through
But my dreams
They aren't as empty
As my conscience seems to be
I have hours, only lonely
My love is vengeance
That's never free
When my fist clenches, crack it open
Before I use it and lose my cool
When I smile, tell me some bad news
Before I laugh and act like a fool
And if I swallow anything evil
Put your finger down my throat
And if I shiver, please give me a blanket
Keep me warm, let me wear your coat
No one knows what it's like
To be the bad man
To be the sad man
Behind blue eyes

One of my favorites, Sloww. :b:
You Shook Me All Night Long
AC/DC
She was a fast machine
She kept her motor clean
She was the best damn woman I had ever seen
She had the sightless eyes
Telling me no lies
Knockin' me out with those American thighs
Taking more than her share
Had me fighting for air
She told me to come but I was already there
'Cause the walls start shaking
The earth was quaking
My mind was aching
And we were making it and you -
Shook me all night long
Working double time
On the seduction line
She was one of a kind, she's just mine all mine
She wanted no applause
Just another course
Made a meal out of me and came back for more
Had to cool me down
To take another round
Now I'm back in the ring to take another swing
'Cause the walls were shaking
The earth was quaking
My mind was aching
And we were making it and you -
Shook me all night long

Southern Man
Neil Young
Southern man better keep your head
Don't forget what your good book said
Southern change gonna come at last
Now your crosses are burning fast
Southern man
I saw cotton and I saw black
Tall white mansions and little shacks
Southern man when will you pay them back?
I heard screamin' and bullwhips cracking
How long? How long?
Southern man better keep your head
Don't forget what your good book said
Southern change gonna come at last
Now your crosses are burning fast
Southern man
Lily Belle, your hair is golden brown
I've seen your black man comin' round
Swear by God I'm gonna cut him down!
I heard screamin' and bullwhips cracking
How long? How long?

Me and Bobby McGee
Janis Joplin
Butterflied in Maton Rouge, headin' for the train
Feelin' nearly faded at Marquee's
Bobby found the diesel down, just before it rained
Took us all the way to New Orleans
I took my harpoon out of my dirty red bandanna
I was blowin' sad while Bobby sang the blues
With that windshield wiper slappin' time and Bobby clappin' hands
We finally sang up every song that driver knew
Chorus:
Freedom's just another word for nothin' left to lose
And nothin' ain't worth nothin' but it's free
Feelin' good was easy, Lord when Bobby sang the blues
Buddy, that was good enough for me, good enough for me and Bobby McGee
From the coalmines of Kentucky to the California sun
Bobby shared the secrets of my soul
Standin' right beside me, through everything I've done
And every night he kept me from the cold
Then somewhere near Salinas, I let him slip away
Lookin' for the home I hope he'll find
And I'll trade all my tomorrows for a single yesterday
Holdin' Bobby's body next to mine
Freedom's just another word for nothin' left to lose
And nothin' left is all he left for me
Ah, feelin' good was easy, Lord when Bobby sang the blues
Buddy, that was good enough for me, good enough for me and Bobby McGee
Good enough for me and my Bobby McGee, good enough for me and my Bobby McGee
I let him slip away, lookin' for that home I hope he'll find
Good enough for me and my Bobby McGee, good enough for me and my Bobby McGee
Good enough for me and my Bobby McGee... (to fade)

Sorry,
I was referring to "Broadway".
Billy Joel is an overpaid lounge act. Don't get me wrong, he has the hooks, but man, the majority of his output is pure schmaltz.

Tracy Chapman - Bang Bang Bang
What you go and do
You go and give the boy a gun
Now there ain't place to run to
Ain't no place to run to
When he hold it in his hand
He feel mighty he feel strong
Now there ain't no place to run to
Ain't no place to run
One day he may come back
Repay us for what we've done
Then where you gonna run to
Where you gonna run
But one fine day
All our problems will be solved
Bang bang bang
We'll shoot him down
Give him drugs and give him candy
Anything to make him think he's happy
And he won't ever come for us
He won't ever come
But if he does
And if there's no one else around
Bang bang bang
We'll shoot him down
If he preys only on his neighbors
Brothers sisters and friends
We'll consider it a favor
We'll consider justice done
But if he comes for you or me
And we can place a gun in his hand
Bang bang bang
We'll shoot him dead
What you go and do
You go and give the boy a gun
Now there ain't no place to run to
Ain't no place to run
Now we'll all be at his mercy
If he decides to hunt us down
Cause there ain't no place to run to
Ain't no place to run
If he wants the chances that you took from him
And nothing that you own
Then there'll be no place to run to
There'll be no place to run
And if he finds himself to be
A reflection of us all
Bang bang bang
He'll shoot us down
Before you can raise your eyes to read
The writing on the wall
Bang bang bang
He'll shoot you down
Before you can bridge the gulf between
And embrace him in your arms
Bang bang bang
He'll shoot you down

More than This by THe CUre
For a second of your life
Tell me that it's true
Waiting for a sign
It's all I want of you
Your heart hides a secret
A promise of what is
Something more than this
Just a second of your time
Anyone will do
A taste of any other
Is all I want from you
Offer me the world
And how can I resist
Something more than this
Make believe in magic
Make believe in dreams
Make believe impossible
Nothing as it seems
See, touch, taste, smell, hear
But never know if it's real
(Never know if it's real)
For a second of your life
Tell me if it's true
Anywhere we are
It's all I want of you
your lips lies a secret
A promise of a kiss
Of something more than this
Just a second of your time
Anyone will do
To know any other
Is all I want from you
Giving me the world
Now I can't resist
Something more than this
Make believe in magic
Make believe in dreams
Make believe impossible
Nothing as it seems
Never really understand
What anything means
(What anything means)
Another second of my life
Not knowing if it's true
Make believe in nothing
Is all I want of you
Whisper me a secret
Whisper me there is
Always something other
Something more than this

Two For Tuesday; Peter Tosh
Rumors Of War
Talkin’ ‘bout war
And rumors of war
Talkin’ ‘bout the coming of Jah
The time is not far
Oh my majesty
Please rescue me-e-e
Oh my majesty
Can’t you rescue me-e-e
Wars
Rumors of war
Talkin’ ‘bout the coming of my father
The time is not far
God when I reach home
How happy I’ll be
Knowing I am home
Where I am free
Talkin’ ‘bout war
And rumors of war
Talkin’ bout the coming of the Negus
The time is not far
Oh my(3x) majesty
Can’t you rescue me
When I look upon creation
All I see is man’s abomination
Causing combination
Amongst the younger generation
War
Rumors of war
Talkin’ ‘bout the coming of Jah Jah
The time is not far
When I reach that place
Gonna be happy and free
Knowing I’m in that land
And I’ve got my liberty
And I see war in a Beirut
War in a...
Lebanon
Syria, yeah
Pakistan
Namibia
Soweto
Johannesburg
South Africa
Make sure your hands and heart are clean
So you can rally around the red, gold and green
----------------------------------------------------------------
The Poor Man Feel It
(Chorus)
Gotta find a solution to this pollution (4x)
The poor man a feel it (4x)
Gas gone up
Bus fare gone up
The rent gone up
For meal gone up?
Lighting gone up
The tax gone up
Car parts gone up
And mi can’t take the first law
(Repeat Chorus)
Time gone up
Scallion gone up
Onion gone up
Red beans gone up
Black pepper gone up
Chicken gone up
And the parents them angry
Cause the pickney them hungry
(Repeat Chorus)

Natural Mystic
Bob Marley
There's a natural mystic blowing through the air
If you listen carefully now you will hear
This could be the first trumpet, might as well be the last
Many more will have to suffer
Many more will have to die - don't ask me why
Things are not the way they used to be
I won't tell you no lie
One and all have to face reality now
'tho I've tried to find the answer to all the questions they ask
'tho I know it's impossible to go living through the past
Don't tell no lie
There's a natural mystic blowing through the air
Can't keep them down
If you listen carefully now you will hear
Sun Is Shining
Bob Marley
Sun is shining, the weather is sweet
Make you wanna move your dancing feet
To the rescue, here I am
Want you to know ya, where I stand
To the rescue (Monday morning), here I am
Want you to know just if you can (Tuesday evening), where I stand
(Wednesday morning) Tell myself a new day is rising
(Thursday evening) Get on the rise a new day is dawning
(Friday morning), here I am
(Saturday evening) Want you to know just
Want you to know just where I stand
When the morning gathers the rainbow
Want you to know, I'm a rainbow too
So to the rescue, here I am
Want you to know just if you can, where I stand
We lift our heads and give Jah praises
Sun is shining, the weather is sweet now
Make you wanna move your dancing feet
To the rescue, here I am
Want you to know just if you can, where I
Know Know Know Know where I stand
Monday morning, scoo-be-doop-scoop-scoop
Tuesday evening, scoo-be-doop-scoop-scoop
Wednesday morning, scoo-be-doop-scoop-scoop
Thursday evening, scoo-be-doop-scoop-scoop
Friday morning, scoo-be-doop-scoop-scoop
Saturday evening, scoo-be-doop-scoop-scoop
So, to the rescue, to the rescue, to the rescue
Awake from my sleep and slumber
Today could be your lucky number
Sun is shining and the weather is sweet

To The Sky
Mayhem of Oz
Whisper into the wind on a silent prayer
Close your eyes and disappear
Breathe in deep, and make believe
That what you taste is real to thee.
Saturate yourself in how this feels
Hear the leaves crumble under feet
Come alive, its now you realise
That everything is free when you dream.
CHORUS
Hey, I can fly. In my dreams I'm alive.
Hey, I can fly to the sky. x2
Relish in how this feels
But this feeling's only a dream.
For nowhere in reality
Does this even exist.
Escape to be free
For me this is in
My dreams
Chorus x3

ok!
I'll take back the things you say about Billy Joel if only because someone who appreciates Broadway is obviously a Clash fan!!
And personally, I think Sandinista! is their best album even though thare are many really bad songs, the good ones make up for it and I like the social/political perspective.

One of my faves from Sandinista! and it still relevant.
Midnight Log
The Clash
Working for the devil
You'll have to pay his tax
That means going to see him
Down among the racks
You don't believe in him
but he can wait for you.
You do his work so fine
He'll remember you
Worried for my friend
As he shows me round the flat
Where I don't wanna find him
His lips an' eyelids black
He don't believe my speech
That lines can and should be drawn
Like if he had a shotgun
The barrels would be sawn
Swallowed by the river
Swollen by the rains
That leakin' ol' computer
Of fingerprints and names
Swimming in the river
That floods the neighborhood
I would call to you
But it would do no good
Voting for the law
That's the general occupation
First comes the public safety
Second comes the nation
You won't believe me now
But there's been some illumination
The wisest cops have realized
They f*cked the operation
Cooking up the books
A respected occupation
The anchor and foundation of multi-corporations
They don't believe in crime
They know that it exists
But to understand
What's right and wrong
The lawyers work in shifts
'N speaking of the devil
He ain't been seen for years
'Cept every 20 mins
He zooms between me ears
I don't believe in books
But I read all the time
For ciphers to the riddles
An' reasons to the rhymes

Sandanista! is too hit-and-miss IMO. But it does have great songs, such as this one
Washington Bullets
The Clash
Oh! Mama, Mama look there!
Your children are playing in that street again
Don't you know what happened down there?
A youth of fourteen got shot down there
The Kokane guns of Jamdown Town
The killing clowns, the blood money men
Are shooting those Washington bullets again
As every cell in Chile will tell
The cries of the tortured men
Remember Allende, and the days before,
Before the army came
Please remember Victor Jara,
In the Santiago Stadium,
Es verdad - those Washington Bullets again
And in the Bay of Pigs in 1961,
Havana fought the playboy in the Cuban sun,
For Castro is a colour,
Is a redder than red,
Those Washington bullets want Castro dead
For Castro is the colour...
...That will earn you a spray of lead
For the very first time ever,
When they had a revolution in Nicaragua,
There was no interference from America
Human rights in America
Well the people fought the leader,
And up he flew...
With no Washington bullets what else could he do?
'N' if you can find a Afghan rebel
That the Moscow bullets missed
Ask him what he thinks of voting Communist...
...Ask the Dalai Lama in the hills of Tibet,
How many monks did the Chinese get?
In a war-torn swamp stop any mercenary,
'N' check the British bullets in his armoury
Que?
Sandinista!

River Of Tears
Eric Clapton
It's three miles to the river
That would carry me away
And two miles to the dusty street
That I saw you on today.
It's four miles to my lonely room
Where I will hide my face
And about half a mile to the downtown bar
That I ran from in disgrace.
Lord how long have I got to keep on running
Seven hours seven days or seven years?
All I know is since you've been gone
I feel like I'm drowning in a river,
Drowning in a river of tears.
Drowning in a river.
Feel like I'm drowning,
Drowning in a river.
In three more days, I'll leave this town
And disappear without a trace.
A year from now, maybe settle down
Where no one knows my face.
I wish that I could hold you
One more time to ease the pain,
But my time's run out and I got to go,
Got to run away again.
Still I catch myself thinking,
One day I'll find my way back here.
You'll save me from drowning,
Drowning in a river,
Drowning in a river of tears.
Drowning in a river.
Feels like I'm drowning,
Drowning in the river.
Lord, how long must this go on?
Drowning in a river,
Drowning in a river of tears.

Joan Osborne - One Of Us
If God had a name
What would it be?
And would you call it to his face
If you were faced with Him in all His glory
What would you ask if you had just one question?
And yeah, yeah, God is great
Yeah, yeah, God is good
yeah, yeah, yeah-yeah-yeah
What if God was one of us?
Just a slob like one of us
Just a stranger on the bus
Tryin' to make his way home?
If God had a face what would it look like?
And would you want to see if, seeing meant
That you would have to believe in things like heaven
And in Jesus and the saints, and all the prophets?
And yeah, yeah, God is great
Yeah, yeah, God is good
yeah, yeah, yeah-yeah-yeah
What if God was one of us?
Just a slob like one of us
Just a stranger on the bus
Tryin' to make his way home?
Just trying to make his way home
Back up to heaven all alone
No, nobody calling on the phone
No, just tryin' to make his way home
Nobody calling on the phone
'Cept for the Pope maybe in Rome

Flirtin' With Disaser ~ Molly Hatchet
I'm travelin' down the road an’ I'm flirtin' with disaster
I've got the pedal to the floor an’ my life is running faster
I'm outta money outta hope it looks like self destruction
Well how much more can we take with all of this corruption
We’re flirtin' with disaster, ya'll know what I mean
And the way we run our lives it makes no sense to me
I don’t know about yourself or what you wanna to be, yeah
When we gamble with our time we choose our destiny
I'm travelin' down that lonesome road.
Feel like I'm draggin’ a heavy load.
Yet I've tried to turn my head away,
Feel about the same most every day
You know what I’m talkin’ about man
Speeding down the fast lane an’ honey we’re playin' from town to town
The boys and I been burnin' it up can't seem to slow it down
I got the pedal to the floor our lives are runnin' faster,
We got our sight set straight ahead but I ain't sure what we're after
We’re flirtin' with disaster ya'll damn sure know what I mean.
You know the way we run our lives it makes no sense to me
I don't know about yourself or what you plan to be, yeah
When we gamble with our time we choose our destiny
Yeah!! We're travelin' down that lonesome road.
Feel like I'm dragging a heavy load.
Though I try to turn my head away,
I'm flirtin' with disaster every day.
An’ you are too baby, Ha ha ha ha ha
You aim for everyone, Oh come on baby
We’re flirtin' with disaster baby ya'll know what I mean
You know the way we run our lives it makes no sense to me
I don't know about yourself or what you plan to be
When we gamble with our time we choose our destiny
Yeah!! We're travelin' down this lonesome road.
Feel like I'm dragging a heavy load.
Though I try to turn my head away, Bop mm bop bop yeah
We’re flirtin' with disaster every day.
Hazey Jane I ~ Nick Drake
Do you curse where you come from,
Do you swear in the night
Will it mean much to you
If I treat you right.
Do you like what you're doing,
Would you do it some more
Or will you stop once and wonder
What you're doing it for.
Hey slow Jane, make sense
Slow, slow, Jane, cross the fence.
Do you feel like a remnant
Of something that's past
Do you find things are moving
Just a little too fast.
Do you hope to find new ways
Of quenching your thirst,
Do you hope to find new ways
Of doing better than your worst.
Hey slow Jane, let me prove
Slow, slow Jane, we're on the move.
Do it for you,
Sure that you would do the same for me one day.
So try to be true,
Even if it's only in your hazey way.
Can you tell if you're moving
With no mirror to see,
If you're just riding a new man
Looks a little like me.
Is it all so confusing,
Is it hard to believe
When the winter is coming
Can you sign up and leave.
Hey slow Jane, live your lie
Slow, slow jane, fly on by.
The Way We Get By ~ Spoon
We get high in back seats of cars
We break into mobile homes
We go to sleep to shake appeal
Never wake up on our own
And that's the way we get by
Way we get by
And that’s the way we get by
Way we get by
We go out in stormy weather
We rarely practice discern
We make love to some with sin
We seek out the taciturn
And that's the way we get by
Way we get by
And that’s the way we get by
Way we get by
We found a new kind of dance in a magazine
Tried it out it's like nothing you ever seen
You sweet talk like a cop and you know it
You bought a new bag of pot, said let's make a new start
And that's the way to my heart
The way to my heart
That's the way we get by
Way we get by
We get high in back seats of cars
We put faith in our concerns
Fall in love to down on the street
We believe in the sum of ourselves
I said that's the way we get by

Strange Fruit
Billie Holiday
Southern trees bear a strange fruit
Blood on the leaves and blood at the root
Black bodies swinging in the southern breeze
Strange fruit hanging from the poplar trees
Pastoral scene of the gallant south
The bulging eyes and the twisted mouth
Scent of magnolia sweet and fresh
Then the sudden smell of burning flesh.
Here is a fruit for the crow to pluck
For the rain to wither, for the wind to suck
For the sun to rot, for the trees to drop
Here is a strange and bitter crop.

Unwritten Law - Cailin
well it seemed like yesterday
when the world was looking dark
it felt so cold and grey
and why the hell am I even here
what's the purpose, all I feel is guilt and hate and fear
til that day you came along
my heart was empty
like the soul was missing from a song
and I thought I'd loved a few
no one ever made me feel
the way that you do
hey little girl
lok what you do
oh, I love you
hey little girl, I love you
well I know I'm not always right
and girl it breaks my heart
when I have to see cry
so many things I wanna say
now I know that you're the reason
that I'm here today
whenever you're here
just stay near
we'll be alright, yeah alright
hey little girl
look what you do
oh, I love you
hey little girl
look what you do, and you do
when all my love starts running thin
I got you my own Cailin
hey little girl, I love you
I'll be alright
but I need you close
please stay tonight
as long as you're here
just stay near
we'll be alright, yeah alright
Describes me in the past week.
