Notepad owns...I use it far more than any other wordprocessor. I don't need all those silly things like formatting for most stuff.
And most of my TAs for computer stuff demand plain .txt format for electronic submissions on reports.

I love UltraEdit 32, but it's shareware. Much, much better than Notepad, and much less bloated than word.

I use NoteTab Light for Windows. It's like Notepad on steroids. For Linux, there's Bluefish. Great stuff.

Note Tab is great. (plain text).
I actually baught Note Tab pro, and recieve for free all upgrades to the 4.xx version.
It has abilities for plain text editing, that you'd think only word processors have.

Notepad+ is awesome. I used to use it all the time, but the newer versions of Windows consider it a key component, so whenever I replace Notepad with Notepad+, it just copies over it again. C'est la vie.

Tass, what does make it YOUR thread?
It was your thread, but now it's society's. And we've decided to use the opportunity to discuss other word processors.

Notepad users are an inherently inferior group of people.

Notepad is just great when you don't want to see your computer suffering from loading word

Nopepad has it's own uses. For instance, I routinely copy and paste text into notepad for use in online forums and sometimes for remembering stuff. As a WP, Notepad sucks. But it's great for using it like you are supposed to, AS A NOTEPAD!!... FOOS!

As I said, for Windows, everything you can do in Notepad you can do it better in NoteTab Light. The only beef I have with it is its support for CJK (Chinese, Japanese, Korean) characters isn't so hot.
