Is this the place for dreaming?
"Wouldn't it be cool if Firaxis added space colonies to Civ 3?"
"I'd really love to see Social Engineering in Civ 3!"
"Firaxis simply has to add a wonder that allows you to see into the future!"
"I want tactical combat in Civ 3!"
Many posts in this forum (Civ 3 General) are wishes that Civ 3 should change radically. Face it, Firaxis will not release a patch containing a completely new game feature just because some of us think it would be cool.
Of course there are chances that Firaxis will release another expansion pack, but the changes in game mechanics will probably be small - simply because it must be compatible with the original game. A new expansion pack would more likely contain new scenarios and graphics - something that can already be made and shared by fans.
If you have got ideas and opinions about features in a new Civ game, please post them in the Civ games general/Future forum instead. They might show up in Civ 4 or a Civ clone someday.

Many of the posters here do not even know about the existence of the Civ future forum, but still want to post their opinion on how the game should be. Maybe if a mod could move these posts into that forum...

That would be good. The new future forum is a good idea, but it should be more promoted.

And then if we had a forum for the "Civ 3 should be just like Civ 2 only better" posts...

Man, I am so sick of those Civ3-should-be-just-like-Civ2-only-better posts.

They're probably my least favorit genre.
Personally, I burned out on Civ 2 in a couple of months. It was far too easy to win by just building a lotta tanks and rolling over all the AI's. Which is what a lot of people enjoy and that's fine - whatever floats your boat. And the detailed editor appeals to the modders. I certainly understand that.
But I find Civ 3 to be a much deeper game that presents a much wider variety of challenges.

I totally agree with you guys. I like Civ 3 a lot more than Civ 2 and I think it's a much harder game than Civ 2 was which ups the ante and makes th whole thing more interestung.
OT: The idea of space colonies is not a bad one. It will be years before we can colonize in space but we are well on the way and a Civ game should be implement that.
So long...

Hey, I wanted this thread to be in the Civ 3 General forum, since it is about that forum!

oops, you're right, should've been more careful reading. This should be in the General Forum and top it while you're at it!
So long...
PS: I still like the idea of space colonies

A military base on the moon would be cool. A person with one of those could pretty much run the world, since he could easily launch missiles and stuff down on an enemy nation if it ever came to war. So nobody would mess with you.

Ok, it so happened that Optimizer suggested that people that posted their wishes for Civ not to post in the Civ 3 General Forum but in the Civ General/Future Forum. Now somebody moved it here and since Optimizer gave examples of what he meant with wishes some people (like me ) picked up on them and started commenting on them. Sounds confusing but it really isn't

Ah, I see. I wasn't sure should the suggestions be for Civ III or a possible 4th version of the game.

I think they're more in the nature of dreams than suggestions... things people would like to have, but aren't very likely to happen.

But hey, the whole idea of this thread is ruined because it was moved to the Civ games General/Future forum. Move it back to Civ 3 General!

I agree. It would be much better to move the threads that is actually covering "Civ Games General/Future", and not this thread that is about a fully different thing...

I'd prefer that it be more like Civ 4. I'm not sure I'd be willing to pay much for Civ 2- 1/2
