http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=404682
I hate them. Ever since I watched that film arachnophobia I hade the little bastards. I get images of them jumping across the room and sinking their fangs into my skin.

SCORPION MY ASS.
You can tell by the mandibles it's a spider.
AND HOLY FREAKIN' HELL it's huge. If I saw that I'd have a heart attack and die. Maybe I just did, I dunno...
It's a Huntsman Spider, they say.

With the exception of daddy-longlegs, I hate all spiders. Especially hairy ones that look like they are just about to jump on you and fill you with poison.

At least spiders can be intimidating looking. My old roomate was afraid of bugs in general. He was such a loser cause he didnt want to admit it like a man and kept telling me to ctach the bug by syaing "No I just think bugs are gross and dirty." I caught him yelping and jumping at least twice...

We get a lot of huntsmen and they are generally pretty damn big, but they are also timid and try to mind their own business. The worst thing is that they lose their grip if they get too scared, so if they get scared when you walk underneath them...
I generally catch them in a big water jug and place them deep in the back garden, so they can come back to haunt me another day Spraying them is incredibly cruel as they take aeons to die.
Having said that, last week we had an extraordinarily large fruit bat in our backyard and I was going out to have a look at it from time to time. When I came to bed, I found a full-size huntsman over our bed and I was so spooked by the bat that I squashed the spider with a spade instead of catching it.
Thankyou for hearing my confession, Fathers.

Do I like spiders?
Only as they are spinning around in the toilet bowl on their way outta my house...or writhing in agony as the neurotoxins in a can of Raid take effect.
I saw that first picture and thought "gag gift"...
...then I scrolled down and saw the next two images. :nghhh!:

I LOOOOOOVE spiders.
They are my favorite animal (besides dogs).
Ok, so they are hairy and ugly and bite, yes, they've bitten me many many times but I still like them.
But there's something about them...they way the kill, some use webs, some jump, some run, some use their web like a lasso, it's simply incredible, I love it when they show a spider documentary on the Disc. Ch.
In my dorm room me an my roomate used to catch these huge brown spiders which sometimes lurked around, we would feed flies to them and watch them eat, it was sooo cool.
Anyway, when I see a spider I NEVER kill it, if it is in my room or somewhere it can bite then I capture it and throw it outside. But NEVER kill it.
BTW. The first picture is a spider. The pictures in the bottom are neither spiders nor scorpions, they are a related species which I forget the name...

I have to admit that I'm afraid of spiders.. Luckily we don't have spiders, climate and all that. But, I've seen big spiders (NOT THAT BIG!) live, and they freak me out. Either I will kill it with some weapon, or I go away, but there is no chance we will be in the same room. The way they move.. gives me the scary feeling. That's when I attack fast, because I don't want it to get out of my sight, because then I'm screwed! can't even sleep.. I'm such a wussie. I'm not afraid of snakes or boogie man, but the spiders are my weakness. I can still get myself together to kill these devils. That particular spider.. I don't know, woudln't attack it with a shoe! Baseball bat maybe. Or shotgun. Then I'd spend 3 days awake wondering how the hell did it get in, are there more of those left, whatever..

Don't be so sure that dies if you step on it. YOu have to jump 10 times at least.. Everything small is scary, it can find a place to hide, sneak attack you.. anything. That's scary. Big things can't do that.. it's more fair of a fight then. Spiders aren't fair fighters. They need to be killed on sight.

I don't mind spiders.
When I lived in California, we had 18 huge pine trees in our backyards, which spiders loved to hang around in. We ended up with literally about 5-6 decent sized (0.5-1") spiders every week, even worse in winter. The exterminator came twice a year and it didn't help much.
But our cats *LOVED* them. They'd chase them down, pounce on them, and eat them whole. God bless cats.
But, at first I hated them, now I don't mind them...got used to them.

I don't mind spiders even though I am a bit arachniphobic, I just tell myself I'm way too big for them to eat so they won't give me a second notice unless I bother them.... I don't know if I could convince myself that about the spiders in the picture though.

I'd probably freak out if I saw a spider that big, but in general I like spiders and leave them alone. They kill other bugs, so enemy of my enemy . . .

Spides are nice. They are actually relatively clean (unlike flies). They eat tons of bugs that are worse than spiders.
I do throw them out of the house though.
I suppose I might feel differently if there were dangerously venemous spiders in the UK.

Spiders themselves I don't mind. But I hate walking into a big spider's web - that always throws me into a panic.

Well, to say that I like spiders might be a bit of an exaggeration, but I do think they are fascinating creatures, and I generally don't mind them as long as they stay out of my way. When they don't, I usually try to move them out of my way and otherwise leave them alone. Not sure how well I would respond to that little fellow on the pictures though...

I have regular encounters with spiders that big. I am absolutely phobic of them. Seven this year so far have haunted my room, four of which were very big. I had two encounters in one night, because upstairs had been treated for cockroaches - it drove the spiders down. The first one I noticed just as I was getting ready for bed. After an ordeal I killed it with a broom. The next one crawled across my back as I was sleeping.
I hate them.

Spiders are cool. I like them, in general. The ecosystem needs them, too. I never kill any of the nonvenomous kinds, and usually I donīt even throw them out of the house. But any Black Widows I find in the yard will die, because those things have a nasty bite and love to hide in dark places.

Yes, I like spiders. Its not an uncanny obsession or anything, but if I see a spider in my house, I won't harm it, and I take pleasure in seeing it around. I think part of it has to do with the fact they help take care of other pests.

A disco dancer that refuses to let the past die...
A "boogie man" is a term refering to a child's fear of 'something:' something in the dark, under the bed, in the closet, outside the window, anything that the child thinks is going to get them. A monster or other scary thing that goes *bump* in the night...
