Yes, it is quite interesting that rules sets evolve along similar lines. And yes, not unexpected.

Start on the poles. If locked on the pole, auto restart.
If not locked on the pole, a little whining is needed for a restart.

Extra settlers. we always play deity so everyone always gets two, so not an issue.

Host get techs, auto restart. Some people have claimed that a person that wasn't the host got a tech but we've never experienced it.

If lost connection. When I'm hosting I have the autosave on and I save multiple times every turn. (unless I'm on a smoke break or space out). So depending on when the connection is lost, we try not to penalize the person. If it happened before their turn and they miss it. we will (if possible) go back in time unless i've screwed up the saves. We don't like to waste time by going too far back. The player will usually do a hot join, then we'll ask him if it looks screwed up. If a real minor screw, the player will usually just say play on. If it's real bad, we'll try to reload from an earlier point. The intent is no damage but it's flexible.

No... I won't hold my breath, or my appetite. But when you are calling to say you an hour inbound, let me know if you are stopping to get pizza... Or I can call an order in to arrive shortly after you do.

The only time whining has any impact on the rules, is in terms of a restart. No other rules are negotiable.

I'll be avail Friday, just not sure when. We leave for the boat around 2 our time. I've been to Ming's as early as 8 on previous trips. So check in before you head out Friday night.

Hmmm, check the math one more time. If I'm there by 8, we usually don't start till between 7:30 to 8 so there isn't any difference. If I get there by nine, it's only about an hour later. If I call ming before I leave, there will be about an hours notice so people can decide.

If I'm standing at a hot craps table, I'll be very late, but the odds of that happening are slight.

Scenario. Stay up late playing civ on Friday. After, at most, three hours sleep wake up and head to the golf course. Make sure your lemonaide has plenty of vodka in it. Make sure you kill a six pack on the back side. Stay at the club for lunch and drinks afterwards. Drive home.

Now what are you going to do.
Geezer........Why, nap of course. (wife calls it passing out)
War4ever....Why TF of course. (since he has no wife)

Maybe being old has nothing to do with it.

Naw, the weather has to be a touch better to play golf. When I'm not golfing, I don't get the same nap in on Saturdays. (the wife usually has made different plans), so sometimes I've got to fake it. Turn on golf on the TV and doze in and out. At least if I'm pretending to watch golf, the wife or daughter won't come in, sit down, and try to chat.
