Lol @ Ixnay's efforts in this thread.
If I could add one smiley it would be the 'flogging a dead horse' smiley from the rolling lol thread........that was (quite literally I suppose ) a killer.

What does it necessarliy cost markos to add more smilies?
Does it really take up that much server space, or is it a real pain to add them?

I think it's one of the slippery slope deals. If he adds the smilies somebody suggested, then everybody else will start suggesting more, and whining even harder if they don't get added. Soon enough, we'll have thousands of smilies over here, and words in the posts will become useless, as everything will be told through smileys.
<- This one is the best from all of the above that I haven't seen before.

Time and effort. Very expensive, when you are talking about a site admin.

hi ,
there are about two thousand in some data bases , you just cant expect Mark or Dan to give us a choice of more then one hundred different smilies , .....
there is room for some more but there should be a limit on the number of total smilies , .....
have a nice day

Garlic,
I guess that sugestion is more likely to pass through. There's already so many smilies available, that I'm sure you find one for quite many occasions. It's also worth to notice that last time Markos added the last new set of smilies, if was after several threads and PM/e-mail messages, plus he said new ones won't be added soon. So I don't expect that we will get new ones now.

We'll probably get some new ones when we reach a landmark users number like last time.

We could have a poll to swap 5 to 10 unused smileys with 5 to 10 new ones.

So there is always lots of smiley talk but none of the cool ones ever get added. Perhaps Mark or Dan will pop in and tell us the score on this. They might not want to have perpetual smiley requests to deal with, that is understandable, but we could vote for 5 to replace 5 unused ones.........

Well, ideally there'd be both, and a linesman smilie with an orange and yellow flag.
