Alright all,

I alwas here people talk about how CivIII has no scripted events, especially since I returned to the civII forums. I have a vague idea what these are, but would someone please elaborate

I made a post about this too. Sadly there are no events.txt in Civ3, nor will there ever be...

I think it's part of a grand conspiracy by Firaxis-Infogrames... lets make a bunch of expansion packs and sell them each for huge profits to give them a game we could've given them in one game. But thats not the point... the little suckers will pay 4 times that amount for the same game if we play our cards right...

Remember... there is no spoon

I don't think that quite answered your question. Scripted Events were used to build scenarios in CivII that had a storyline, sort of anyway. For example you could have a trigger such as if City A is captured by Player A then Player B gets 3 new units in the nearest city and a pop up box appears explaining why. You had a fairly wide range of Triggers and actions to play with and it made really interesting scenearios possible. I seem to remember a fantastic Jules Verne scenarion that didn't feel like playing Civ anymore it had so many events.

Many people are annoyed with Civ III because it has some good advances but many of the great features that were in Civ II and SMAC have ben left out. This is something that should have been included.

Yes, there will never be scripted events or a scripting language, because:

"I don't believe in giving scripting languages because the only additional power they give users is the power to create bugs." - Mike Breitkreutz, Firaxis

He forgets that scripting languages gives also the user the power to fix bugs and adding "forgotten" features.
