Preliminary Science Poll
OK - this poll is quite general, as there are a number of directions we can go in. The Ministry will canvass the opinions of the citizenry, and if further polls are called for, they will follow:

2 questions only, for now.

Note that Fundamentalism, Genetic Engineering, Refrigeration, Guerrilla Warfare and Fundamentals of Computerized Banana Cloning are 'dead-end' techs, not leading to anything we need for space (although GW does lead to Labour Union).

IDHTMWM, of course.

Computers has already won a couple polls, and offers the Seti program, so should be the immediate goal

As we are bound to come across at least a couple times where we can't research towards spaceship, I would put that we should beeline towards the Space Ship techs and then poll on the techs to research when we can't research anything.

I would put Refrigeration and Genetic Engineering as the primary off techs I would look towards when we are forced to research off-techs

That's what I was thinking as well.

Once we do have Apollo, of course, it behooves us to consult with the Defence Minister and City-Planning Minister on strategies to minimize the risk of tech theft. Once the space race starts, the AI automatically is successful in stealing the techs it needs (as we all know) - so we need to keep AI spies far away.

Go for SETI, and if that's not available then go for anything that will get us to Space Flight.

Oh dear, this time I should RTFM.

Please add one more vote for computers. And I voted in the wrong place on researching space flight. I meant to vote for delaying research to avoid AI's stealing.

(Well it is early in the morning.)

STYOM-

We need to reinforce 'spy' defenses against the Carths so that they don't steal any of our space technologies.

That being said, we should bee-line for space flight, and delay rocketry as long as possibly, because the AI goes on super-cheat mode once you get rocketry.

The Minister of City-Planning ponders getting Research Labs in every city at once and feels faint with excitement... Starts a campaign placing SETI posters all around the public squares.

The poll results have come out strongly in favour of Computers, as expected. The people want their Civ2 (it's that, or online porn that they want )

The followup poll will be posted shortly
