OFFICIAL: Should we re-name conquered cities?
The title says everything and with the probably conquer of Innsbruck we should decide this soon.
So what you guys think?

note from the connie:
(e) The President is responsible for the naming of all new cities of the empire regardless of how the cities were created or assimilated. A name has to be evaluated by the citizens through an Official Poll (Article IV, Subsection 3-II) before a city is named.
So, it would be up to you (via poll) to change/leave the name.
If we want to change it completly, this would need to be an amendment-poll,
so Pedrunn, what is it about?

Well I like to keep the names of conquered cities, it creates some atmosphare and gives us a nice collection of trophies in form of conquered cities.

Thats too hard to decide i was pretty sure about renaming them but after reading Martin's argument in the other thread i got confused on what to do. He does have a good poit.
I know this is up to me. The stuff we decide in this poll will only be used during my term. Since the next president may have a defined opinion about it.
This poll is for public hearing. Since i want to be sure i am doing the right thing specially when cant make up my mind!
Therefore i didnt even vote yet. I really dont know what to vote!
Of course we could make it part of the Constitution and make i a rule to all the namings. But i dont feel like wanting to do this.

It is already part of the connie:
A name has to be evaluated by the citizens through an Official Poll (Article IV, Subsection 3-II) before a city is named.
this means:
if you want to keep the name (or others), you would have to start an official poll, with the option:
The new conquered city will have the name Innsbruck:
do you agree/not/abstain...........
But it needs to be polled.........
And then it is up to us, if we agree with it or not......
(Just mentioning facts, I would like to keep it as well, for 'historic' reasons, although we 'might' end up with a lot of assilimated cities, according to some of our citizens )

Pedrunn,
what I wanted to say:
The poll as it is, isn't valid..........
If you want to make it for all cities, this has to be an Amendment-poll !!!!!!!!!
If you just want to do it for Innsbruck, you would need to change the title.

The pres does not need to create a poll to keep the name of a city we conquer, it already has a name, the con talks about naming cities, not renaming them. Do you see the difference?

"naming of all new cities of the empire regardless of how the cities were created or assimilated"
This implies that cities that we assimilate... I.E. conquer duing battle... are covered by this amendment... and that they have to be named, by the Pres....

I agree with Martin we should not rename the conquered cities. As far as I am concerned I think we are already spending too much time and energy on city naming.

Actually there are only two threads about it. You are only noticing this because the ministers didnt gaves us what to discuss this weekend so we dont have what to do unless discuss the city name which i also think odd!

'Wekickedyourassville' yo,
but in all seriousness, a rename could help us identify the positions of cities (we need to start that last part soon)

If only we spent this much energy on the really important stuff. I don’t think we should rename 'em.

OK, again.
The connie is saying clearly, that ANY city has to be polled.
The poll could say, as already mentioned, do you want to name Innsbruck as Innsbruck. (example)
It is then for us, to agree or disagree.
If people don't like it, start an amendment to change this part of the connie.............
BUT, until it isn't changed, we have to comply with the connie.

Better don't rename them. SO far the poll is still open and and we have no decission made about the issure yet. Therefore Insbruck has still the name Innsbruck until this poll will lead to another decission, mapfi.
why I can't rejoin the javachat channel
