New Background
Here's a cool new background for the New Game/Single Player screen. It's looks a little nicer than the other one, I think.
1. Copy the file below to your
"C:\Program Files\Activision\Call To Power 2\ctp2_data\default\graphics\pictures" directory.
2. open the "spnewgame.ldl" file, in "C:\Program Files\Activision\Call To Power 2\ctp2_data\english\uidata\layouts"
3. search for "SPWindow"
4. go to the bottom of the section to background make the change here:
Background {
string image0 "CathedOp.tga"
int xpix 0
int ypix 0
}
5. Enjoy!

Well, wouldn't you know. The zip file is 535KB, so I can't post it. Perhaps I could put it in the files forum?

Strange... the file is larger with RAR. Even with "Best" compression!

well... there is the overhead of the rar header to consider...
you probably are using a compressed tga format... as opposed to uncompressed.

Nice work ahenobarb
See if you can stick it the files section if you can't squeeze it on here - it'll be a shame to not share it, looks very nice and bright.

I sent an email to Locutus, so it will be coming soon.
Thanks for the compliment huangShang, however, I did not make the picture. It is included in the picture555.zfs file that packs with CTP2. However, the picture as it comes is too large for use with the game 1024x728, it needs to be 800x600 to work. So if you don't want to wait and have paintshop pro, you can make your own. otherwise, please standby during technical difficulties...

For those who had not already guessed, the picture is (like so much in CTP2) a leftover from CTP1.
What I don't understand is why they don't put the SP submenu all on the first screen - there's plenty of space for it...

I have a total gui for the game that fits into the future section if you want it I attached it to the space scenario thread a bit a go.

Hmmm, I never owned the original CTP so I just figured it was an alternate design that lost out to the other one. I do like it better though, it's brighter and I like the guy at the top. He looks like he is looking for inspiration or something which invites you into the game more than just the two maps.
Oh well, it there for what it's worth.

I pondered the idea of suggesting adding a thingy to Modswapper that added a ModSpecific front page, so you could double-check the mod you were playing. But it would mean a whole extra check, another line in the gamefiles etc.
