Congratulations to all the elected members of the Lemurian government... when do we play the 21st Turn Chat?

Thanks to all who voted for me, and now the bad news:
I've been pretty out of touch for the last two terms, so I probably won't be entirely up to date and aware of what's going on. I even managed to load the game in LOTR mode and discovered that we had an army of Balrogs (which would have been handy...).
In any case, I tentatively plan the first turnchat for Sunday (will hopefully put a thread up soon) - if another day would be better the time to say so is now.
In the mean time feel free to tell me about anything I've forgotten to do which I should be doing.

I am available Sunday, the best time to start playing (as far as I am concerned) is around 18:30 or 19:30. I can't play the Tuesday and Wednesday and could have some trouble to play the Monday for a few weeks. The best days for me are the Sunday and the Thirsday.

Hmmm i wonder how long this chat thing will be down? I just kinda put my vote in to get the Java one back(as it was easy to use) over on the Apolyton/community thread. How many days has it been off-line now? The citizens of Lemuria will be doing their own thing if we leave them too long

well, i don't see any need to update the modst thread or its subthreads/polls, as long as the game doesnt move. (we have played one and a half turn during the last month iirc). if you feel otherwise write so in the according thread and i will respond there.

If I would need to vote upon the best active ministers/Pres. so far (out of memory and just regarding about informing us):
Pres.:
Martin
Pedrunn/Locutus
Ministers: (bit harder)
Tamerlin
Pedrunn
Locutus
(those three quite close to each other)
and then, quite a big gap to fill...........
I am not really happy with our ministers
Sorry I forgotten on in my list: Zaphod isn't doing a too bad job either...........Also could still improve
As I have to install (again) CTP2, I am again in the same position as you H Tower.................

I don't think people have been so bad really, it just depends if things are running fast or slow - without the turn chat it looks like things will be v....e.....r.....y slow. Maq,Jbytheway and others have done a good job compiling information and screenshots on what has been going on. So i got no complaints really. Although it would be nice if things could move quicker. Still if the game played through many turns we would all complain over certain decisions if they were taken without proper consent. I guess we are limited by what happens in any given game turns played, important stuff can crop up(like when germany took wombatoon) and it is correct, but slows the game down, to stop and get citizen feedback on what is happening. Its a tricky one.

The fact that the 5 people you mention plus you are really the only people who give a stuff about carrying on can't really help.

The CtP2 DG is getting bogged down, has someone any idea when the Chat Room will be repaired?

we should just use another chat, or icq or msn or whatever instead (all fine to me, though that doesn't matter, as i won't be able to attend any turnchat the next week perhaps except on wednesday)

I was considering using the temp chat offered by Mark in the Community forum, since it seems, usually, to be deserted. If we used MSM, who would be able to attend?

I could, but can't you only have 5 people in an MSN conversation?

As I don't know for sure what is MSM (or is it MSN?), I can't answer your question J.

Thanks for your answer Zaphod, I suspected MSN to be what you wrote but I was not sure. I will have a look at it tonight and will tell you if I can use it for a future DG...

if we are just about, i still advice trillian, which is one interface for icq, aim, msn, yahoo and irc.
drawbacks known by me so far:
no multiuser chat in icq supported,
via icq you can only send single files, no entire directory structures

Zaphod,
ICQ does have multi-user support, but it's not very good.
And MSN doesn't work too brilliantly for a real chat with more than a handful of particiapants either. Plus, both require people to download and install more software, which is why we (apparently) don't want to use IRC in the first place.
So I installed a chat server on my own pc. I just got it working a few minutes ago, so it may require some tweaking in the future, but it works. At least, as long as my PC is on. So if and when we want to use this chatroom for the DG, times and dates of chats will have to be coordinated with me, so I can make sure my PC is on (even if I can't attend myself, I may in some cases be able to just leave my PC running while I'm gone).
It's a regular Java chat, so no extra software or anything is required (assuming you already have a Java plugin installed, which most people do and which is also required for the Apolyton Java Chat). You can find it here (but (this week) I won't be online on Friday evening, and Saturday/Sunday morning/afternoon).

OK, its short notice, but I think I'll try for this Sunday evening (from 1830 GMT as before). Would that be OK with you, Locutus? The start can be later if necessary.

My working hours for tomorrow as the same as today, and as you can see by the time of my post, I didn't make it home before 18:30 GMT (I assume by GMT you actually mean BST). I should be home somewhere between 18:30 and 19:00 BST, so if you plan a chat for 19:00 BST it should work out fine.
(Can't guarantee I'll be there myself, as I still have some uni work to finish that should have been done Friday but which I didn't get around to (mainly because I installed that chat ))
