Some new MKs(Members of the Knesset) offered a new "bill" according to which every Belgian parliament member who voted for this thingie will be arrested when visiting Israel and accused of something along the lines of subversion.

And the Guardian's political leanings have precisely what to do with the story?

That Guardian story actually has very little opinion or spin in it. It's a list of facts.

The Guardian hates Israel, It loved Belgium because Belgium has got Brussels and the Guardian loves all things that eminate from Brussels.
Edit- I should have read the article, i have now and its not biased.
Even so I stand by my above comments

I don't see your point. Are you saying that Sharon has not committed any warcrimes?

It's outrageous that a country dares trying to punish a war-criminal who leads another country !

Yes, the whole world should tremble when the almighty US labels somebody a terrorist, but a person who orders tanks to drive through homes of civilians but happens to be a supporter of your governements foreign policies is to be left alone ... "Land of the free" my #ss !

I'm saying that it's ludicrous for Belgium to unilaterally try anyone for war crimes. Whats next Trinidad and Tobago trying Bush senior for the Gulf war?

More seriously, it indeed goes both ways. I wonder if there are people here who think that :
- Belgium is wrong to sue Sharon
- the US is right to bomb Iraq for Saddam removal (official pretext some people here believe)
Both are exactly the same thing : a country which wants to extend its values to other sovereign countries, and uses law or force to do so. The opposite would be not to judge how internal affairs are done by the neighbours.
However, the Belgian trial, like the American war, is completely hypocite and has political reasons. Belgium doesn't seem to be too eager to sue Putin despite the terrible crimes perpetrated in Chechnya, and the US doesn't seem too eager to punish a Mugabe-like despot.
Both cases are pretty similar IMHO, excet that the US will reach their objective, unlike Belgium, because they have bigger guns.

And for some local publicity stunts...
The Princess Hotel in Eilat(one of the best Israeli hotels) announced that Belgian citizens are "not welcome" in the hotel.

I wonder if they'd be so keen to turn Belgians away if a busload of them turned up with money burning gaping holes in their pockets.

I disagree.
First, it is not Belgium who sue Sharon (or Castro, or Arafat). Belgium offers the possibility to victims to sue someone.
Why is Saddam not sued? Because nobody lodged complaint against him.
Second, the belgian tribunal is competent only when the international tribunal (la haye) is not. The first idea of this b. tribunal came when attrocities in former yugoslavia were discovered, before that international trib even exiat. When the IT finaly exist, the belgian one became 'useless'. The idea was kept and because not all countries accepted (signed, ratified...) the LaHaye tribunal, so it was decided to keep the belgian one as a 'last hope' for victims.
I don't know if russia recognize the international tribunal, but if so, potential 'victims' of Putin may sue him at LaHaye. And as I said Belgium has sued nobody until yet: neither Putin, nor Sharon. I'm not even sure that a state may sue someone?!?!?

I may understand, but I find it sad.
I have a jewish friend who is afraid to go to israel as 'just a tourist', he says that if he go to Israel, it will be as a 'JEWISH' tourist. And he is very, very sad about that.
What if in Belgium some hotel or pub put a "Israel citizen are not welcome"...?
How would you call that?
