Iguana Fire
Just wondering- why doesn't everyone create a nation thread to roleplay their nation?

CURRENT STATS:
---

The Holy Empire of Iguana Fire
"1 nation under truth, justice, and rationality"

UN Category: Capitalist Paradise
Civil Rights: Below Average
Economy: Powerhouse
Political Freedoms: Excellent

Location: Apolyton

The Holy Empire of Iguana Fire is a small, economically powerful nation, renowned for its complete absence of social welfare. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 7 million are either ruled by a small, efficient government or a conglomerate of multinational corporations; it's difficult to tell which.

The small, pro-business government juggles the competing demands of Commerce, Law & Order, and Religion & Spirituality. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 1%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Gambling, Automobile Manufacturing, and Trout Farming industries.

The automotive industry soaks up huge government handouts and college students make ends meet by selling their kidneys. Crime is a major problem. Iguana Fire's national animal is the iguana, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the igua.

Elected Emperor:
“His Eminence” Gustav Alexus Komnenus IV (TCF)

Elected Adjuator:
“Her Eminence” Aemilie Patriciasa Rastanova (TCF)

Impraetor:
“The Honorable” Lawrence Ignatius Poda (TCF)

Senators: 10

Political Parties
The Conservative Fellowship (TCF) The status quo must remain……92%
Free Love (FL) A subversive hippie-like organization………5%
Other/Independent (IND) ……3%

Notes:

-The office of Impraetor serves much like the United States of America’s Senate majority leader.
-The Elected Emperor serves for 2 years. The Elected Adjuator serves for one year.
-Each Senator serves for 10 years. Each senator represents a district.

NEWS: 2/13/03

Petitioners Ignored
-Iguana Fire has ignored thegambling for children issue- not wanting to take a stand- liking the benefit of gambling, but not the fact that we might have to deal with children gambling- as it is the parents fault and they must be punished, according to our sage Emperor Komnenus.

Improved Health Care
Also, in the interests of improved health care for our nation; Iguana Fire has decided to harvest the dead's organs.

It was not a hard decision; Komnenus, under advisement from Elected Adjuator Rastanova merely ignored the protesters; telling them to either get out or be subject to the law.

Capitalism Forever
Iguana Fire, the Capitalist Paradise always seeks improved business relations. The Office of Toruism is always seeking new applicants for business.

Remember- with 1% taxes, we're the cheapest in the World.

Decision to Join the UN Approved

Impraetor Lawrence Ignatius Poda and the rest of the senate finally approved His Eminence, Komnenus' proposal to join the UN... and promptly upon submission, were allowed into the UN.

Once in the UN, Komnenus delegated his votes AGAINST the current grammatical issue- stating its irrelevance.

But everything gets buried in those threads- and there hasn't been much roleplaying anywhay.... why should/would I even bother to check the updated stats on a nation that is buried on page 6 of the listing in the topped thread? That's why I suggest creating threads for each state- just think of it like the old AC-Fiction Chiron Chronicle!
-But thanks anyway for answering my question

The Daily Iguana:

2/14/03

Free Love
-Membership in the notorious subversive organization, Free-Love has gone underground as alleged “oppression” has increased; with many leaving the nation to seek life elsewhere, in a less capitalistic, business-friendly nation. In the past two months- civil rights in Iguana Fire have dropped from Average to Below Average; while the economy has risen from Strong to Powerhouse; making Iguana Fire one of the rising industrial nations for the new era.

The Concerned Individuals
-A new political group, led by an activist outraged by child gambling has arisen under Christian Ideals; hoping to combat hippies, gambling, drinking and all other forms of entertainment. This group, the Concerned Individuals (CI) has proved popular in recent days, fighting for more stringent controls on morals.

Increase in Civil Rights
The Civil Rights Rating of Iguana Fire today, were upgraded from Below Average to Some; causing citizens to rejoice in the streets.

Public Nudity Allowed
In a strange, landmark move, the administration recognized the Free Love group and those who have been campaigning for greater civil rights, allowing anyone to go nude if they so wish, so long as it does not hamper or hurt the economy.

Awards for Minority Portrayals
Emperor Komnenus recently announced a new award for the excellent portrayal of Minorities on Television, trying to raise awareness and respect for some of Iguana Fire's smallest groups of citizens.

Some protests ensued that this step was not going far enough, and that ideal protrals are necessay, as many people will not care about the new awards; but Komnenus dismissed it, stating that "People seek awards, and we don't want to interfere with business, do we?"

Racists everywhere were dismayed.

Trashkanistan Watched
Impraetor Lawrence Ignatius Poda has successfully petitioned for the nation of Trashkanistan to be placed on Iguana Fire's most watched nations dossier list; due to its alarming populations of Terrorists.

"In the best interests of Iguana Fire, we must vigilantly watch all possible threats to our nation" Poda announced at the formal news conference.

Some cited that placing Trashkanistan on the list, a fellow member of the Apolyton Region, bred divisiveness, but Poda maintained that safety is more important than international relations.

Civil Rights Once Again Lowered
People across the country groaned once again as their civil rights status was lowered by the United Nations, not becuase they feel that they have few rights- but because they are outraged that others feel that their civil rights are not in keeping with the average of all other UN member states.

Emperor Komenus recently stated that the UN must "rate Iguana Fire higher" or else it might withdraw.

Our UN representative has yet to comment.

UN Passes Grammar Resolution
In other news, the UN recently passed the harsh "correct grammar" resolution- and insists on enforcing it... Komnenus had this to say- "I find it ironic that an entity which claims to make civil rights equal for all feels that it is necessary to force resolutions upon others- infringing on the soverignity of other nations."

More Information!
Our representative to the UN, the Honorable Lawrence Ignatius Poda recently placed his vote "FOR" on the most recent "Freedom of Information" act- asking for information to be made widely avaliable to all UN nations.

Political Freedoms Rating Rises
In better news- Iguana Fire's Political Freedom Rating recently rose from Excellent to Superb. There was much rejoicing in the streets.

And, in recognition of its new UN status as "Corporate Bordello", Iguana Fire changed its national motto to "Money is Power"

Death Penalty Enacted
To loud acclaim, the Emperor Gustav Alexus Komnenus IV announced today that the death penalty will be enacted in Iguana Fire, allowing greater safety and retribution for all.

Cloning Allowed
Earlier today, the government made a decision to allow Cloning, and in fact, fund it in the name of greater health and benefits for all. His Eminence, Komeneus was quoted as stating that any who disapproved with the measures "should move to another society which values their own lives less than some unborn 'thing'."

Several people moved out after his announcement.

Neverthless, Iguana Fire's population continues to grow- reaching 9 million at last census.

Updated Information
UN Category: Corporate Bordello

Civil Rights: Below Average
Economy: Powerhouse
Political Freedoms: Superb

The Holy Empire of Iguana Fire is a small, devout nation, remarkable for its complete absence of social welfare. Its hard-working, intelligent population of 9 million are effectively ruled by a group of massive corporations, who run for political office and provide their well-off citizens with world-class goods and services. Their poorer citizens, however, are mostly starving to death while being urged to go out and get real jobs. The populace has reasonably extensive civil rights, although these are mostly aimed at allowing them to buy whatever they like.

The small, pro-business government juggles the competing demands of Commerce, Law & Order, and Religion & Spirituality. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 3%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Gambling, Automobile Manufacturing, and Trout Farming industries.

College students make ends meet by selling their kidneys, organ donation is compulsory, the government awards prizes to television shows featuring stereotype-breaking minority roles, and citizens can be frequently spotted going about their business stark naked. Crime is a major problem. Iguana Fire's national animal is the iguana, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the igua.

Why?
Corportations are better than right wing?

How would you define right wing as different than corporations?

I consider my nation a utopia! I would certainly live there!

...If anyone is actually reading this- I'll update the news; if anyone isn't (As Cold Wizard suggests; I'll spare you the time... since no one else seems to be role-playing)

The Holy Empire of Iguana Fire is a small, economically powerful nation, renowned for its barren, inhospitable landscape. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 12 million are effectively ruled by a group of massive corporations, who run for political office and provide their well-off citizens with world-class goods and services. Their poorer citizens, however, are mostly starving to death while being urged to go out and get real jobs. The populace has reasonably extensive civil rights, although these are mostly aimed at allowing them to buy whatever they like.

The medium-sized, corrupt, pro-business government concentrates mainly on Commerce, although Law & Order and Religion & Spirituality are on the agenda. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 7%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Automobile Manufacturing, Gambling, and Trout Farming industries.

Scientists regularly clone human beings for research purposes, the death penalty has been reintroduced, voting is voluntary, and the automotive industry soaks up huge government handouts. Crime is a major problem. Iguana Fire's national animal is the iguana, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the igua.

The Chiron Chronicle was a story-game in the AC Fiction from Dec 2000-Feb 2002 or somewheres about; run by DarkCloud and LordLMP.

-
Anyways... should I update my news or does no one care?

I like the roleplaying, but if no one else is and no one is reading this, then there is little point

-
UN Category: Corporate Bordello
Civil Rights: Good
Economy: All-Consuming
Political Freedoms: Widely Abused

Civil rights improved to Good! And the flat tax remains at 7%!

Although I assuem civil rights will now decay since we have legalized public flogging for criminals since it was the cheapest option and we do not want a higher than 11% tax rate! The people would protest!

Okay- thanks Cold Wizard!

The Daily Iguana

Human Rights Spirals Downward

In some recently controversial moves, His Eminence, Emperor Komnenus has outlawed labor strikes and created a new incentive to lower taxes so that the rich can, "if they wish" give money to the poor.

"Iguana Fire," Komennus said "Is a nation of the rich, by the rich for the rich. If the poor cannot earn any money, they don't belong here. They have no right to exist if they cannot employ themselves usefully."

Plans are in the pipeline for outlawing homelessness and either shipping the homeless to some neighboring liberal paradise or constructing huge homeless homes to make certain that Iguana Fire's businessmen will not be depressed by the extreme poverty which they see on the streets. Because, as Elected Adjuator Rastanova says, "A happy worker is a productive worker. And a happy worker doesn't like to see poor people."

In the Senate, The Honorable Ignatius Poda suggested a proposal to eliminate all the poor by firing squad; but had his proposal shut down by the liberal senator from Centralis, Huey Long, and subsequently withdrew it.

In other news, Iguana Fire was recently ranked 17th out of 152 in the greatest rich-poor divides in the Apolyton Region. Several people protested this disrepency, but were subsequently peppersprayed by the police.

Corporate Bordello= 2 high freedoms 1 medium!

and taxes at 4%!

The Daily Iguana
02/21/03

The Corporate Fellowship
The formerly called “Conservative Fellowship”, now renamed The Corporate Fellowship, sponsored by the Corporations in Iguana Fire have sought to lower the Income taxes further from 4% to a low 3%… However, the stated goal of the government is to keep Income Tax below 11% if at all possible with a median of 7%.

Defense Spending Raised
In an effort to keep Iguana Fire Capitalist, Defense Spending has been raised despite protests from such right-wing groups as the fringe elements of the Corporate Fellowship. Komeneus and Poda recently combined on the issue to ramrod it through the senate, noting the troublesome increase in militaristic liberal democries in the Apolyton Region and fearing for Iguana Fire's safety.

think about what your nation is? its a corporate bordello, corporations come there only to get laid.

Freedom is good in my nation- we allow both nazis and commies to protest... but we reserve the right to arrest them or prosecute them for anti-govt actions.

freedom out in the open works just fine for police actions

and I love corporations!

That's how my nation lives.

Komnenus loves the corporations because the corporations fund the nation!

shinjuko- about roleplaying your nation- just wondering; what did you have in mind?

what I did, was create a basic governent structure based on my in-game decisions... I created a few strong personalities... and viola! there, I had my government structure and people!

The subversive hippie free-lovers, the strong Komnenus, the swarmy Trade Minister , the belligerant Senate leader (poda), etc. )

For other ideas, just check out my first post and see what I did- If you have other questions, I'll be glad to answer them
