This might ease the wait for MOO3
http://www.mobygames.com/game/sheet/gameId,2538/
Folks.... this is a link for Pax Imperia, Eminent Domain. It is a game that was put out in 1997 and is somewhat like MOO3. It comes equipped with starlanes, espionage, task forces and viceroys much like MOO3 will have..... and it allows you to try out some of the strategies that you might use in our much heralded and anxiously awaited MOO . It isn't the same as actually having Orion in your hands.... but I would guess it is cheap and might satisify your craving until Feb 24 (or earlier.... I pray).

It plays fine in XP for those that care. BTW it is a real time game, not TBS.

Vmxa..... Thank you for mentioning that.... I forgot to. It isn't TBS, however you can slow the time down or pause the time completely to make it a "semi" TBS. It does have a MP function on it that will allow you to explore some of the espionage effects. However, the choice to purchase it with only 10 days left till MOO3 is yours. I just liked it better after I found out the similarities between it and MOO. I actually dusted off the cd and played for a bit.

I'd like to see a sequel to Pax in the future. The game, i feel, had a lot going for it. Surely it can be made even better. I never had any problems or issues with it, so I think it has a solid base to start from.

Yeah, I could have said (and nearly did) that it feels like a TBS game at low speeds.
I would like a sequel as well. The biggest thing I did not like is that you could run a spy mission and steal a whole planet, one you did not even know exist.
I play it from time to time, but it does have a lot of micromanagement.

Is that the one where you start by managing a single destroyer, then a couple of ships, then a planet and finally the whole species?

Nope, Pax you start on at least single planet and depending on difficulty-setting you may have additional ships from the get-go. It's been a while since I've played Pax, but what you described isn't Pax.

Thanks. I'll have to pull out my copy and reinstall it to refresh my memory.

Grumbold, you're probably talking about Imperium Galactica, or at least what I remember of it.

Ack! That game was evil.
After Blizzard dumped it, the potential was sucked right out of it.
