I'm going to run for Director of Exploration and Intelligence if it still exists after the amendments. My goal: to salvage all remaining Unity pods on Planet.

Hmm, to run for anything... to run for anything...
Say, Maniac, constitution-literate fellow that you are... if a governor hits the 3-term limit for governorship of a region, but no one runs for that office and they stay Governor for a 4th turn, can they still not nominate themselves to that office for the term after that?

No you cannot (yet?).

Noted. And if the directorate disappears, positions such as DPO or Solarian governor are still free.

You mean when no one besides that person nominates itself, resulting in a fifth term? As that person would still have run three consecutive terms as governor without a month of absence in between, I'd say the rule still remains. Though of course, anyone can propose an amendment to remove that rule for governors, if you would want that.

Having conferred with my advisors and associates, I have decided to nominate myself for the Governorship of Jedinica Vrijstaat.

If you are a native English speaker, you are probably unable to pronounce it, as several of the vowels don't exist in English. The long french-german-dutch ee/ée, the "ij" and the long "aa'" are not known in English afaik.

I tend to say (ad-hoc phonetics) "Jeh-dih-nih-sha Vridge-stought" (/ad-hoc phonetics) ... "stought" might be a bit off of the actual way I say "staat", though... just couldn't think of something else that sounded like that kind of a. And I am a native English speaker... the only other languages I speak are for communicating with my computer, and I don't think binary has the "aa"

Do you think you're going to loose?? I always have a few abstain votes in my elections, while you have won several unanimous election IIRC. Also due to massive spamming you know most of the people here better than me. So I expect Lemmy, Kassiopeia etcetera to vote on you. I just might end up without an office next term...

Jedinica Fridge State.
And actually that "stought" pronunciation is very similar to certain Flemish dialects.

There must have grown some curse over Solaris and the Directorate of Peacekeeping Operations.
AdamTG, if the current voting trend continues, DEI will be merged with DPO. Can I write you in for DPO candidate?
I'd go for Solarian governor myself, but unfortunately I have obligations as the Mayor of Concordia.

Surely the Mayorship won't be that demanding on your time? Solaris isn't that hard of a region to manage (believe me, I know ).

Re: nominations...
I would fill the DPO gap in the list, but that's not my cup of tea and it looks like Adam will be filling the post anyway.
I'd like to run for DIA, though

So when do the elections start?
Februari only has 28 days you know...
Edit:
nvm..
Quote:
|
In that case I decree the nominations will start the 15th of February, and the elections will start the 26th somewhere in the afternoon GMT time. That way the new officials should be known Saturday night, somewhere before the turnchat. However the turnchat of Saturday will still be held by the old February government, after which it will be dissolved.
