Why should we conquer France? We can go there when we want and how long we want, buy and sell what we want, move there or leave if we want, without even showing our passport. Same with almost all other European countries. Please tell me one sane reason to go to war again?

Do you feel like singing Wagner ?

Sir Ralph, what you describe occured 1900-1910. You could travel all across europe without showing your passport, were a wealthy nation in europe and the world, live where you want...
Hmm, your question, why?
Why did you go the first time? (last century)
Oh! Let's not forget...not only the Turks, but unemployment over 10%. That ain't good. If it gets to 30%, .

Go to Boston. Face east. Start swimming. You'll see it eventually, maybe.

I have good news for you. The Kaiser is gone. And the current politicians, government as well as opposition, are not any warlike. By the way it was not Germany, who started WWI. We didn't "go", we rather were "dragged in".

We have Turks and (now ex-) Yugoslavs in the west and Vietnamese in the east, so what? I don't get your point with the Turks. Don't even try to turn us into racists again, except the usual swastika waving scum, which has much less than 1% support and, btw, exists in the US as well.
And other than Spain for instance, Germany is not facing 30% unemployment any soon.

Hmm let's see. The build up of a European armed force dominated by France and Germany. Yeah, I bet the Pentagon would love that idea! It's in the best interest of the US for the troops to be there, not the other way around.

I think you really need to update your view on the rest of the world, it's about 50 years out of date.
