Well best way to deal with savegames of every game is to zip them. In this way they will get smaller and won't waster so much space on Apolyton. I do it with the CTP2DG, too. By the way CTP2 and CTP1 games don't have an common extension, there is no extension in the English version and in the German version you have the extension .Chr as it is part of the year for instance 2000v.Chr.
v.Chr == vor Christus in English BC

Second that! It would really make our lives much, much easier if we could upload our SimCity 4 saves without having to put them into archives, rename them, etc. But they are .sc4 extension, and have spaces in the names...

Well finally I tried your upload service Marcos, it is good to use "litte" screenies of our CTP2DG game. I only have one complaint: The the viev and the upload button, both buttons look ugly if I use Mozilla 1.3a that would be a propblem if these buttons would also be there if I use Netscape 4.78. There are missing there it forced me to copy the link from the cool long Netscape 4.78 address bar to the tiny to short address bar of Mozilla 1.3a in order to use the service.

I have found two problems with this feature:
When uploading a file that already exists, it starts uploading (Which takes some time with my slow upload speed). Then it says: "File already exists"... and thereby cancels the upload
How about a check to see if a file already exists (before uploading), and then give us the question if we want to owerwrite or cancel the upload...
The second problem:
When viewing files, and press "DEL", it asks to download the file (I'm using DAP), then you have to press download before it tells you that it's actually an html file, and then you'll have to manually open it

Might we make it such that when you are viewing files, you can have checkboxes next to them like the PMs manager? In fact, the entire folder set up would be very useful too, 'create new directory etc.
I have lots of files in there and when I want to delet for instance 10 of them, I can only do so one at a time. But it gets worse, as when after I delete one, I am not brougt back to the view files page, but rather ther main upload page wherby I must select view files again. 20 procedures to delete 10 items.
Setting it up with checkboxes would make that so much easier to delete all in one fell swoop. Would make sense to go back to the view files page after one deletes as well.
All that said, I think this feature is a godsend! So very useful. Thanks fellas.

20 procedures to delete 10 items.
|
(easy way out of this suggestion )
if you open the delete link in a new window(shift+click on ie), you will still have the original window with the file list. 10 clicks for 10 items. if we had those checkboxes you would need 10 clicks plus 1 more for the submit button

btw, deleting gets worse if you have DAP installed... whenever I click delete it asks me to download a file, then I have to say yes to download the file, to get the msg, it's a html site and asks me if I wants to open it...
Pretty annoying (The same thing goes whenever you have to download a file, you have to press download twice )

Bah, thanks alot.
When this is performed though, you simply go back to the main upload page, aslmost as if nothing was deleted. Perhaps a '*.file has been deleted' message?
If you werent interested in the first suggestion, then I am just making this to humour myself.

Yes, DAP is Download Accelerator Plus... (But by searching 'DAP' on www.download.com you'll find it also)

I'm still using it, since I haven't found any other good download management programs...

Have you tried either Gozilla! or Netpumper?
I hate download managers, but I used both of those with some success when I had a dial-up connection. If you haven't tried them already do a quick google search on their names and you'll find them.

I have tried gozille, but as DAP was released gozilla was not as good as DAP... I tried it once some time later, but still wasn't better than DAP... netpumper I had installed once, because I was told it had a special feature, that should help downloading files (well...more special than DAP), but I never managed to find that feature (have forgotten what that feature was), and it didn't feel any better than DAP, but since I got used to DAP (and I didn't remember the name of netpumper, when I reinstalled Windows), I chose to stick with it...

hey Markos, couple of questions for you
i've written a similiar (albiet, simplier) script for my site, but it has issues uploading compressed files (zip, rar). the problem seems to be with the file field not passing a variable if it's a copressed file (others work fine). have you had any similiar expierences?
i'm running:
OS
Windows XP, SP1
HTTP
Apache 2.0.44
PHP
4.3.1
DB
MySQL 3.21

Quite convenient feature for 'Poly related stuff , but it's just part of a plot to keep us here all the time isn't it?

You have no idea what plans he has for the future... these "extra features" might just be a way, to persuade all of us, into his own personal army, free to use, when he has a personal war to fight

Why won't it upload a file with ' in the name? I tried "bob'sunits.bmp" and it comes out as "bob/'sunits.bmp", the link points to "http://apolyton.net/upload/files/Bob_Smurf42/bob/" and I can't delete it. The delete link points to "http://apolyton.net/upload/index.php?del=bob\'sunits.bmp". I tried "BobsUnits.bmp", and that works. Could you say something about which characters it won't accept? Could you also delete this file?

Because ' is often used in coding to denote something "special"
