An artifical solar flare, or a really big sparkplug.

With the US military's heavy reliance on technology, what would the result of war in Iraq be if THEY had a nuke and used the EMP attack on us as we were racing across the border in all our high tech glory???

They'd have to lift that nuke pretty high into the atmosphere to affect a large area of ground. They probably don't have the missile tech to do that.

Plus any nuke the Iraqis are likely to build (which they almost certainly aren't capable of unless given half a decade to do whatever they want as far as facilities are concerned) would be a simple fission device. It would probably do a lot more damage to the US cause to drop it on a largish troop concentration than to knock out the electronics of a division or two.
At least that way Saddam would get to kill a few thousand American troops.

Having a missile with a range of 180 kilometers instead of 150 kilometers won't get you much higher. What sort of ballistic path does an Iraqi scud take? Prolly only gets up to 100 000 feet or so...
