XP issues with any upgrades
Starting to play CTP2 again after about a year. This time on my laptop with XP pro on it. I have not yet put on the 1.11 patch, the modswapper, or the Apolyton 2.0 pack but I plan to.
Is there any issues I need to be aware of. I seem to remember seeing a post about XP but could not find it again. Thanks again for your help.

no swapping? at ALL? I finally got a machine that runs CTP2 without crashing all the time (my old desktop had problems with it) and can't run the modswapper now. !@#@$!@!!
Well thanks for the info anyway. I appreciate it.

Great! I will try adding the modswapper. See what happens...I think it might be ok. Heck the game never ran as smooth on my desktop as it does now. So we will see. Ill post if anything weird happens.
Thanks alot all.

The only change from Win XP compared to Win 9x should be in the order of savegames and modswapper options and stuff: Win 9x sorts them chronologically, XP alphabetically (unless you have XP on a FAT32 partition, but this is fairly rare). This of course has absolutely no effect on gameplay

another quick question I download the modswapper .zip file. Does it just get unzipped to the root of the CTP2 installation. Which is NOT in the default location (its on my work machine )?
Thanks for all the quick responses, have monitored this forum posting since CTP1 days and never posted. But have got tons of strategy ideas from it. Very impressed with the community as a whole. The moderators, the mods..etc. Keep it up.

You unzip it wherever, then install it. It will ask where your CtP2 root directory is. You 'install' it there. N.B. Ensure that you have local administrative rights when you install it. They are necessary.

OK, didn't want to unzip to temp directory first if it needed to be overlayed int CTP2 root. But if there is an installer, I think I can handle it .
Thanks Mr. Baggins.
Looking forward to trying a SAP game.

Actually I don't know, my version is Win 2000 Pro and I have started playing as soon as I have installed my OS (directly with the SP2) last year.
Believe me, I would have reinstalled Win98SE on my computer if the game and ModSwapper had not runned properly with the current configuration.

I'm not quite sure why you emphasized 'Pro'. There are 4 versions of Windows 2000
Professional
Server
Advanced Server
Datacenter
There is no 'Home' version of Windows 2000.
Its highly unlikely that any home user would install Server, AS or Datacenter on their desktop, unless they had a good reason to do so, since the server versions usual configurations are much more demanding, and basically unnecessary for any user.

I think whether or not ModSwapper runs under Win2k probably depends on what Service Pack you have installed, and possibly on other dlls, ocxs, etc. I have had it running fine under Win2k in the past, but some people have certainly had problems.
