List of UN Categories (Stolen from Nationstates forums by Alecrast Yokuza Units. ^^;)

OK. I shall endeavor to organise these categories for the benefit of all and sundry. Given the popular definitions of "right-wing" and "left-wing", I would define, for your purposes, "right-wing" as a combination of high economic and low social freedoms, with the left obviously being the converse. Political freedoms are essentially irrelevant to the "left/right" divide, with there being highly democratic and highly despotic examples of either. "Civil rights", as defined in this game, are *not* a matter of what you, Angelika, would define as "economic justice" (which is more a function of lack of economic freedom, in many ways), but rather as a matter of actual freedoms afforded to people in social matters. One hopes you find this of use.

Since you wanted a scale from left to right, I'll attempt to assemble one, based upon the working definitions I created, although many government types shall be equally "left" or "right". As such, within each broad category (Left-Wing, Left-Leaning, Balanced, Right-Leaning, Right-Wing), I shall arrange the types in descending order of overall liberty, by simple summation of the values of the three categories of freedom (low counted as worth one point, medium worth two, and high worth three). In the event of two countries tying for overall liberty, I shall count political freedoms as more important than economic or social. Once again, I hope this is of use.
LEFT-WING
Left-Wing Utopia
Scandinavian Liberal Paradise
Iron Fist Socialists
LEFT-LEANING
Civil Rights Lovefest
Left-Leaning College State
Liberal Democratic Socialists
Libertarian Police State
Democratic Socialists
Corrupt Dictatorship
BALANCED
Anarchy
Capitalizt
New York Times Democracy
Benevolent Dictatorship
Inoffensive Centrist Democracy
Tyranny By Majority
Father Knows Best State
Authoritarian Democracy
Psychotic Dictatorship
RIGHT-LEANING
Corporate Bordello
Capitalist Paradise
Conservative Democracy
Compulsory Consumerist State
Moralistic Democracy
Iron Fist Consumerists
RIGHT-WING
Free Market Paradise
Right-Wing Utopia

3. Civil Rights Lovefest (High Social, Medium Economic, High Political)
|
I'm a Civil Rights Lovefest....
Bit I have
Civil: Excellent
Econ: Powerhouse
Political: Superb
Shouldn't this account for High-High-High?
Is Powerhouse Economy only Medium?

Giovanni: The strength of your economy is affected by your economic freedom -- generally periods of high freedom grow your economy, and periods of low freedom shrink it -- but it's not the same. Thus, you and I could have ahas the same economic freedom as a Civil Rights Lovefest, but your economy could be "Powerhouse," and mine "Struggling" (as was the case for me a couple of weeks ago). The mid-range economic freedom means that the economy will generally stay about the same, unless an issue specifically affects it.
From the NationStates FAQ:
Quote:
|
These three scales determine your nation's UN Category (see below).
Are those three scales the same as Civil Rights, Economy, and Political Freedoms?
Not exactly. "Economy" in particular can be strongly affected by other factors. But they're pretty close.
|
It's conceivably possible to have a Left-wing Utopia with a Powerhouse economy -- but it's unlikely, given that the decisions that make one a Left-wing Utopia tend to shrink ones economy.
TKG: Sounds like something both boosted your economy and social freedoms. Did you legalize child gambling, or something of that nature?

That looks accurate. It explains my rise from Scandinavian Liberal Paradise, to Left-Wing Utopia (after the U.N. hit on my economy), to Left-Leaning College State, then to Civil Rights Lovefest, and finally to Anarchy
Actually I started out as Civil Rights Lovefest then went to Scandinavian Liberal Paradise after I went into the U.N. I might of not went to Left-Wing Utopia, I may have jumped right to left-leaning college state.
In any case that explains my rise to Anarchy as I slowly improved my economy after starting off low, then losing some political freedoms. Then gaining all that back to the highest level.
I have mastered this game . Obviously Anarchy is the best, and I have it.

Hmmm... Where did this come from? Did Archaic compile it? If it is correct, I think Adam hit the nail on the head, but for me it seems to go more on what issues I've chosen, regardless of how I actually am in the 3 blanket measures. COuld be wrong, but it seems like that for me.
