Official: What to do with our Alien Artifact
We've recently acquired an Alien Artifact. This product of a long-lost technology could provide a breakthrough in our research, if we linked it to a Network Node to take advantage of its stored data. It could also provide a revolutionary leap in our production of a Secret Project. Since the Maritime Control Center will be finished before the Artifact could be transported to New Suez, hurrying that projevct will not be polled. However, the Artifact could be used to hurry our production of the Xenoempathy Dome in New Tassagrad.
Options are to link it to a Network Node and download the stored data, to use it to hurry the Xenoempathy Dome, or to save it for later, when we might need to hurry a Secret Project post-haste. You have two days.

No need to use it to rush the XD, btw... if things go according to plan we'll have it in '62 (6 turns). We also have the production capacity (in terms of crawlers available and produceable) to insta-build a project if we really need to. A tech would be far better use of an artifact, hence my voting for the first option.

I suggest saving it for later, when we feel the need urgent.

What urgent need could we have for it? We can insta-build SP's without using an artifact (well, it wouldn't be quite as quick, but that will change once we get a mag tube network going)... and are any of the computer players really threatening us on the SP front, since that AV thing is over?
It's possible that we could get a better tech if we wait until we've gotten some other ones... but I can't really think of a situation where it would actually be bad to use it now, as whatever tech we get will help us along (now, rather than later).
I'm just not understanding why we shouldn't cash the thing ASAP.

Nope. We concluded during the chat that it was Adam's repsonsibility, and he was supposed to poll it.

Hmm, is that standard policy regarding artifacts? Perhaps some sort of poll is in order to determine policy regarding artifacts in the absence of the DoR? We could have cashed this thing a few turns ago, no?

Seeing the high majority for cashing it directly, I guess that becomes standard policy from now on.
