I voluteer to make the map even though I am a player.
But only if we do NOT use randomized starts and resources.
(GhengisFarb wonders if there is an overlay option in the map editor for Wonders)

Not sure what you mean, but I wouldn't want that each players starting positions are known... Sure, there should be placed places where the different players CAN start, but I don't want to have: Egypts starts on spot x=blah y=blahblah... It should be randomized between the set spots...

It was a joke. I volunteered to make the map if randomized resources were turned off meaning I could plant all of the resources and luxuries around MY starting position.
Anybody thought of asking someone who has uploaded a map in the creation forum?

I haven't posted a thread, but I think Eli should do it, since it's him who started this thread

Should the Wonders with city effects (like the Pyramids and Sun Tzu) be changed from "in every city in continent" to "every city". There usefullness is greatly diminished if they can only effect 2-3 cities at most. They would also be major strategic targets if they effect ALL of the owners cities.
Others:
The Hanging Gardens
Hoover Dam
JS Bach's Cathedral
Perhaps instead of changing the cost of sea units and making them cheaper we can add the ability to the Harbor improvement of "adds +1 shield to water tiles" thus making coastal cities more productive.
It would be hard to make them cost 30% less since all units are expressed in a cost of ten factor.

Sheik has the map ready. I would suggest to sort all players in a east-to-west order, to get an optimal flow. If the time zones entered by you are correct, that would be:
GMT+2 - Eli
GMT+2 - ormuzd
GMT+1 - Sir Ralph
GMT+1 - ADG
GMT+0 - CerberusIV
GMT-6 - GhengisFarb
Places 1/2 and 3/4 could be swapped, I sorted the list E-to-W according to the country flag. In case of ADG and myself I had even to resort to the approximate center of gravity of the countries, although I'm still not very sure . Not that this matters much.
If we are agreed with this order, we need to clarify the civs we want to play, and possible customizations of the Names. I would like to be an Ultima VII revival civ and therefor be:
Title: Lord
Name: British
Civ: Britannia / Britannians / Britannian

I'd like to be the Persians, with the aforementioned customization. (Edit: Civ changed, it was the Celts before, but anyway...)
We had agreed not to take commercial and expansionist, hadn't we? Just a reminder for the rest.

Random is not possible, unless the commercial and expansionist civs are excluded.

Didn't we agree that the UUs are available to all players and they have all had the "initiate Golden Age" flag removed?
If so, the civ you choose is simply window dressing and you just need to choose the two traits you want.
Industrious and Religious for me and would like to choose the Germans as my civ style.
QUESTIONS:
1) Did we make the change in regards to UUs?
2) Did we alter the Wonders so they affect all cities and are no longer continental effects?
3) Are there any changes we made at all besides making the map?

There still is the question of starting techs. Since we excluded commercial and expansionist (both completely useless in the later game, but provide a tech needed in the map making race), we had agreed to allow starting techs again.

Even if we don't start with the base techs for getting Mapmaking it would still be a fair start for everyone, wouldn't it?

I would prefer not to start behind CerberusIV as I already do in another game and it gets confusing when you recieve the save for multiple games from teh same person.
I haven't found timezone order to drastically speed up PBEM myself as often people don't get around to playing the turn immediately upon recieving it.

Timezones work quite well actually, at least from my experience.
Cerberus can simply name files differently or use different mail subjects and that's it.
I get two mails per day from Dissident, never had a problem.

Same for me in a couple of PBEMs. If Cerberus IV sets a descriptive Subject line (not "PBEM turn", but "Naval PBEM" and "Whatever PBEM"), I don't see a problem.

can we start already? I think the last thing we are waiting is ADG's choice for civilization. But from 10 possibilities 5 are already chosen - so he has 1 from 5 to decide from.
Who will make the game?
