A taste of the Candle'Bre interface...
I thought I would post this update on the main map screen to give Apolyton a taste of the graphics direction that is now happening in Candle'Bre.

Not a screenshot of the game or anything... just a hint that we're doin' stuff. This was posted in the OT forum, but I don't think anyone noticed (or cared?).

Mouse and hotkeys. At the moment pretty much everything works on a left click to select province then right click on the province to bring up a menu of game controls. There are hotkeys in place to open the major management screens though - budget, research, that kind of thing.
The user interface is currently going through a *big* update but I imagine hotkeys will still be in there!
Rich.

I agree. it looks very good - clean, yet with a lot of medieval feeling. I hope CB arrives at a beta soon, though. The recent StP debacle makes me worry about all the volunteer projects.

Let's throw up a few more working proofs, just to let players know that things are progressing in Candle'Bre...
Battle Screen

What does one see if each side only has 3 or 4 unit types for example? In such a case the screen could look a little crowded if there are a whole ton of unit icons with "0" underneath. Could these icons be removed or greyed out perhaps?
No comments on the Army manager screen atm as its a little too small on my monitor in a thread to make out easily.
Research screen looks great. Don't change a thing.

What you are seeing is the maximum number of units that could potentially appear on the screen. Only the units that are part of the battle will be appearing though, and there are plans to have units rotate based on the tactics you are employing.

The background pics+unit types are excellent.

We're sure hoping so, Alex! A lot of the "extras" won't be in place yet when the beta is initially released, but partly that'll be because we want the folks *playing* the game to have a voice in what they look and feel like....gettin' closer....

Better than many commercial games, even.

Hi Vel!
Long time no see! It's great to see you guys are really going to make it through, and I'm really happy to see that it is possible for outsiders from the gaming industry to actually succeed in making an interesting game! Of course, I only have the UI for evaluation for now, but remembering on all the work you had building up the ideas for the game gives me some quite great hopes in playing this game!
Just keep up the good work Candle'Bre team!

You might get to see a screen of the game map with the new terrain and some improvements on it pretty soon... but not just yet, hehe .
