BTW I think the link is kind of racist, assuming that black music is all stolen and repackaged white music.

I can't tell the difference between hip hop and rap. I don't really care, either, because I don't really like it whatever it is.

Maybe my assertion was a bit broad there, so here's a more accurate statement:
It is incredibly rare for me to encounter a hiphop/rap song that doesn't sound horrible to me.

CAREFUL WITH THAT MIC...
SO TELL ME, WHEN YOU TOOK THE PRACTICE SCHOLASTIC APTITUDE TEST
DID YOU KNOW THE ANSWERS OR DID YOU JUST GUESS?
YOU RELY ON GIMMICKS TO AMUSE YOUR FANS
AND ACT ALL URBAN TO JACK-UP YOUR SOUND-SCAN.
WHAT'S THE MATTER WITH YOU? HOW COME YOU RHYME MONOSYLLABICALLY?
IS ATROPHY SHRINKING YOUR ENTIRE VOCABULARY?
YOUR STYLE'S LIKE GARBAGE CANS MEANT TO BE TAKEN OUT ON A WEEKLY BASIS.
EVER SINCE YOUR FIRST RECORD YOU'VE BEEN IN A STATE OF SUSPENDED ANIMATION.
YOU LOOK LIKE SNUFFALUFFAGUS AND AUSTRALOPITHECUS.
ME CRAY, YOU ABACUS.
BUT ENOUGH ABOUT YOU, LET'S TALK ABOUT ME
AND HOW SINGLE-HANDEDLY I REDEFINED THE SCIENCE OF RADIO ASTRONOMY,
MAKING NOBEL PRIZE WINNERS QUESTION THEIR NOTIONS OF REALITY.
OH, BUT I DIGRESS… YOU PLAY SORRY, I PLAY CHESS.
KING'S PAWN TO B3, CHECKMATE, GO GET SOME PERCASETS.
CAREFUL WITH THAT MIC, WEEZY.
DO YOU REALLY THINK IT'S THAT EASY?
MMMM… THIS IS REALLY GOOD ICE CREAM! YOU WANT SOME OF IT?
OH, MY BAD I DIDN'T KNOW YOU WERE LACTOSE INTOLERANT.
MAKES YOU PASS GAS, FRIGHTENS ALL THE GIRLS AWAY.
ONLY FRIENDS YOU KEEP ARE THOSE YOU PAY.
ALWAYS ON THE READY FOR THE WACK SNACK ATTACK,
I CARRY SANDWICHES AROUND IN A STRAIGHT-EDGE STYLE JANSPORT BACKPACK.
GOT THE GADGET Q GAVE BOND. TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR MIND AND MAKE YOU JUMP IN A POND,
GO "QUACK QUACK" AND FLAP YOUR ARMS, LEAVE YOU CONFUSED, BUT COMPLETELY UNHARMED.
CAREFUL WITH THAT MIC, WEEZY.
DO YOU REALLY THINK IT'S THAT EASY?
DO YOU REALLY THINK IT'S TRUE
THAT UP ABOVE THEY CAN'T HEAR YOU?
NOW BOTH YOU AND I KNOW THAT THE PAST TEN YEARS HAVE BEEN RATHER INTENSE.
I'M ASHAMED TO ADMIT THAT I'VE BEEN FOOLED BY THE SEDUCTIONS OF VIOLENCE.
PEOPLE WALKING AROUND WITH UGLY AURAS.
AT TIMES I'M EVEN TEMPTED TO SEEK THE ADVICE OF DR. LAURA,
BUT I IGNORE HER.
SO I TAKE A DEEP BREATH AND COUNT TO TEN,
AIN'T GONNA LET IT GET UNDER MY SKIN.
TAKE A DEEP BREATH AND COUNT TO TEN.
THINK OF ALL THE NICE PLACES THAT I BEEN
LIKE BACK WHEN I WAS WAGING PEACE AGAINST THE VISIGOTHS,
I WAS TUTORED IN THE ANCIENT MYSTERIES BY A WIZENED PHILOSOPH,
LEARNED THE POLYRHYTHM OF CELESTIAL TIME,
AND WAIT FOR THE ONE TO COME AND GET IT DONE TO FINISH THE RHYME.
CAREFUL WITH THAT MIC, WEEZY.
DO YOU REALLY THINK IT'S THAT EASY?
DO YOU REALLY THINK IT'S TRUE
THAT UP ABOVE THEY CAN'T HEAR YOU?

Personally I hate Hip-hop (but not rap), and on that note, I DO have musical talen. No, I don't have the talent to sell millions (read: I don't like making music based on current trends so as to make maximum profit), I have the talent to make music I like (well, talent in the making...I'm only 16). I find the majority of hip-hop to be un-original crap made solely to sell on most young men's urges and wants: sex, women, drugs, alcohol, money. Believe it or not, there are songs called "Wearin' No Draws" and "No Panties on the Dance Floor" (yes, they are about what their names say), and one about a "car wash" involving women (you know what I mean). There is no talent in that that I would ever want.
Thank you, and good night.
[Edit_added]And whiever based talent off of profit? That is most rediculous measure, only usable to judge how well a creator knows the current trends. Some of the best artists I can think of sell barely 1/100th of what hip-hop artists make, but are a 1000 times better than most hip-hop artists.[/Edit]

Well perhaps its because it's the combination of
-You dont like Rap to begin with
-You're saturated with image of "crappy, superficial" type of rap around you.
When I see new rock bands these days whenever Im watching MTV, Im horrified at just how many sucky bands get huge airtime and popularity. I mean, I have to admit people dont all think like me, but like you said, you can legitimately bash bands that sing superficial lyrics and act like they're some skaters... A lot of Crap ass bands sell millions too.
Maybe Im getting old. I dont like alot of new musics thats been coming out.

Of course, I personally think that there's never been a time that was better musically than the now, and certainly Hip-Hop (if not self-identified "Rap") is a chief contributor to this. Astounding production techniques and magnificent, polyrhythmic arrangements that simply blow everything since Phil Spector out of the water.

What are 'bush sounds' in the background sound box?
I cant say that I've heard much hip-hop or rap that I like. I'm just not willing to wade through the **** to get to the good stuff.
