Civ3 PBEM Rules (version 1.0): Discussion
Civ3 PBEM Rules (version 1.0): Discussion
Welcome to the Civ3 PBEM Rules version 1.0 discussion thread
The rules started as an idea a couple of years ago in the C:CtP community limited to the moderator feature and few others, mostly of informational value. It was until recently - a few months ago - that a complete set of rules appeared in the C:CtP community. The Civ3 PBEM Rules are based on those rules with several modifications and additions to fit the Civ3-PBEM community.
Here you may discuss and comment any rule or propose a new one for PBEM.
Just remember that the fundamental rule of the PBEM rules is that any single rule can be excluded if agreed by all participants in a game that does use the Civ3 PBEM rules version 1.0.
Your comments are more than welcomed!

The info on how to play a PBEM turn is not correct:
Do not load it like a single-player game (load game) !
You must start it from the multiplayer setup screen (game type = load game).
Also check if the 'accelerated production' flag is correct before loading the turn.

Good job, Keygen. I even think this topic should be topped to be seen from newcommers as recommendation.
Flandrien: I'm loading the game every time from the main menu and don't see any problem.

Flandrien, I have read that only some people experience the load issue through the regular Load Game link. However it could be a good idea if I would update the rules with a bug reference under the informational section.
Thanks ormuzd and yes it could be helpful if it would get on top temporary if proved to be an interesting thread for some more people.

For example in a 3-player game you could have an American, a European and an Australian sorted that way or in the reverse order.
|
Another remark:
If you sort players on time zone, sort east to west.
I think a european should always be put before the american player in the sort order, not after.
About loading the PBEM turns:
I had a lot of trouble at the beginning of 'double or nothing' pbem with accelerated production being set incorrectly.
This stopped when I loaded my turns from the multiplayer setup screen.
('game type = load game' should be 'game mode = load game' of course )

As long as there is an order and not mixture (e.g. putting a European, then an American and then a European, etc.) turn speed can be increased. However this is not always true. This is recommended for people that work and can only play in specific hours. People that have all day whether they are in Australian or Brazil makes no difference. Also a replacement can break that order if replacing a player from a different time zone. Besides your remark was on an example. I usually put Europeans first
Thanks for your comment

And I read that this bug is not fixed in the new patch (1.21f)
