Keygen's accelerated start mod for CtP is excellent. The game gets a boost at the start, effectively beginning you at turn 30 or so with 3 settlers, a few extra units and techs. If you can pull it off again Keygen, I'd vote for that.
Failing that, I'm open to the other 2 options as well.

I prefer c by far. IMO, even with accelerated production the first months will be boring.

My preference would be:
C
B
A
Playing on line is preferred, but I realize that this may be hard to organize as we are all over the globe. While above is my preference, the difference in preference is minimal. I'll go with what ever is decided.
Keygen is right in that this can take some time. I'm currently in two AC games that I believe are already 2 years (maybe more?), both with Keygen (and he is kicking my butt in both as well!). Both games could still last a year or more yet!

I prefer accelerated production.
Online playing will not be possible with my slow dial-up connection.

Sorry for the delay but there were some things that had to be done and decided...
I wait for a reply from a new participant and I will be able to launch game (b) with accelerated production.
Taking in mind your choices, Ormuzd and Kambei will not participate in game (b) but in (a) that will start sortly after because of the total number of participants unless something changes.
Game (c) will be the last to start.
Note that all participants will have to install US patch 1.21 for PTW and the no-CD patch for that patch in order to play since the european patch haven't been released yet! If you don't know where to find the no-CD patch email me and I will direct you to the correct link. Of cource for US versions of the game the no-CD patch is not necessary.

Aeroprinz, could you post your prefered order of the games you want to join? There are three of them...
And the highest level you've ever beaten AI.
BigFree, I was near to forget about it myself
Hope for the first one to be launched pretty soon

The games I want to join
A
B
The highest level I ever beaten AI : Emperor
About accelerating the game:
A. Accelerated Production makes game unbalaced. because emeny can build units faster, but you can kill them with the same speed...
B. Mod is the best way.
C. Unfortunatly I can not play online...

Nice to see you here!
I didn't know you had purchased Civ3
Only you will be limited to games (a) and (c) as game (b) is full. I hope this is not a problem to you

I would prefer a mod too Aeroprinz but I haven't completed any. I find accelerated production fit in a deathmatch game and that is the reason I start this one first in case I will have a mod for games (a) and (c) ready by the time they start. As for the accel. prod. unbalancing the game that would be the same for all.

Not a problem at all Keygen. Either or both are fine with me. Do I need to buy or install anything other than CIV3?

You need to have the "Play the World" expansion and the latest patch installed.
I hope this is not a great expence for you.

If there's any room yet, I'm in.
I like game a), then c), and am currently in one other civ3 PBEM.
I play SP at Emperor for a challenge.
About accel. prod, if we're planning to take a couple years for a game, wouldn't plowing through a month of limited action be worth it later?
Starting online would be best if there were a group with fast enough connections, but I didn't think the game format could be changed from IP to PBEM. Does this work?

Welcome aboard Rommel2D
I agree with you about accel. prod. though the limited action period would be more probably.
Some guys, including me have poor connections so online would probably be forbidden and I think changing to PBEM actually works but I have no information whether that could generate any problem.

I've done it before; I was testing out to see how it would work. It worked fine with both 1.14 and 1.21

Hi there, if there is still space in game A then I would like to play.
With regards to the starting online/slow connections dilemma would the solution be to organize a time when all the players can be online and then playing the pbem turns. The only problem with this that I can see is if a player plays civ on a different computer than the one they get their e-mail on. With this slow connections would not be a problem as we would only be sending and receiving e-mails.

I think there is some space for you too Snotty but I am not sure if it is game (a) or (c) or both.
Your idea sounds good so if I don't come up with a mod we could use it despite it is not a fast way either.
Welcome aboard

I like Snotty's idea too, although personally my connection is probably fast enough these days.
Which reminds me, Keygen, we should have another go at playing online in CtP one of these days...
I'll be offline for a week or so, so please wait til I get back before you do anything rash

Playing turn-based MP would be much faster than coordinating email as there is no need to retrieve and open files and production can be queued between turns. Connection speed should make little difference, as long as the connection can be maintained. Has anyone tried MP online with a, what are we talking about here, 56K? I checked Firaxis and Gamespy but couldn't find any information on connection speed.
The other problem would be firewalls or security programs that block the use of necessary ports, unless a direct IP connection bypasses these.
Does everyone have a US version? If not, would we be playing 1.14f or waiting for 1.21 to be universalized?

Keygen, have you had a chance to work on a mod?
Re: online fast start- the PtW readme mentions not hosting with a modem, so presumably there wouldn't be problem with slow connections as long as someone with a good broadband connection can host. Does anyone know for sure their connection won't work, or aren't intested in trying to set it up?

Rommel2D, no I had no time for the mod.
Things are pretty hard here and a mod takes much time.
I would agree on the online thing and we could perhaps give it a try in game 1) or 3).
Nuke, sure I'll let you all know about it.
