Apolyton threedegrees Group
The public beta (free) of 3° is available now and I've got it set up and installed, and was wondering if anyone on Apolyton was interested in joining a group with me to see what it's all about.
The website with more info on what it is and how to get it is www.threedegrees.com.
Requirements are Windows XP, broadband connection, 64MB RAM.
For some reason it requires MSN Messenger 5. I had Windows Messenger installed, which apparently isn't the same thing ( ) but it had a painless setup which pointed you where to get missing software and waits for you to install it before installing threedegrees.
It also requires the beta of the Windows XP Peer-to-Peer update, which it also points you to and gives you a login to download it.

Sounds a bit weird and interesting, but I don't have time to install it right now. My pillow is calling....
Maybe tomorrow.

Good lord, can they not design this thing so i don't have to install all this extra crap? I DON'T WANT TO RUN ****ING MSN MESSENGER. I have it installed if we want to try this out. I have a feeling it's not going to last long on my system, though.

Ok, it looks like we're in a room and i'm attempting to play music. It would be nice if there was a place to chat, though. That seems like something that would be obvious to put in.

Hmmm, I might as well try it out.

You actually filled that out?
I entered it with garbage values, and a garbage e-mail...

Right now the only two things you can share are Photos and Music.
And it doesn't care if the music you have is licensed or not, you just drag & drop it onto the share music window and it plays it for people in the group.

Of course not.
And on a related note, does anyone have a spare service pack 1 I could borrow?

BTW, SP1 breaks most of the pirated versions of XP. Not that any of you would have such an evil thing...

There is a painfully simple way to avoid that.
Zopper: Next time a bunch of us are on we'll start up the group I guess.

Ok, I'm just going to uninstall this thing and MSN Messenger. It all seems rather pointless. If you want me to listen to your music, tell me what to listen to and i'll acquire it. I don't need some bloated program to do it.

It was a very high-profile and lame attempt to change the interface people use with a computer.
It basically featured a cartoon "house" you lived in. You could put a box on the floor with the Word icon and stuff, and click on it and Word would open. You could even design your own house to "live in your computer"...
It was basically a trendy thing they tried to do, not unlike 3°
