No Hall of Fame???
No Hall of Fame???
This info was revealed in another thread, but I think it deserved its own topic.
Is this some sort of sick joke?

I have to admit that I enjoyed the 'hall of fame' and would like to see it brought back.

actually, in all seriousness, what you suggest isn't so far fetched.

score isnt a big deal in moo games....you cant really accurately "score" a game, other than a win or a loss, and by which difficulty.

at least, is that minimal data is recorded like in MOO2 ? Or nothing at all ?

It was listed on MOO2 (and it seemed to work for me when I warmed it up last month after the psych job for christmas).
But does that really matter?
Even games in the early 90's "designed" in a HOF!
I even recall HOF's being part of games in the 70's and 80's...
Do I have to record my high scores on PAPER!
Where is the love for the trees for goodness sake!

HOF might be useful for keeping track of the different stats from the game... worlds per galaxy size
Senate victories, conquer victories, Rebellion victories vs the senate, other victories
Largest fleet size per galaxy size
Highest efficiency ratings
earliest victories per sized galaxy
best AI finishing stats... largest AI fleet
etc...
---
This is also my gripe about Medieval:Total War --- victory goes right to a picture and a listing of the 3rd shift testing department -- do programmers today even play games?

As a spreadsheet lover, I want an automatically compiled after-action report that gives me clues to playing the game better in the future. "Stars! Supernova" is supposed to have this feature. A simple list of the 10 highest scores according to an arbitrary system is something I can live without.

There is a superb after-action report, detailing your stats. However, as an egotistical freak, I'd like to see the Civ tradition of a Hall of Fame, Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri-stype (the best HOF ever in a Civ game)

Has anyone found the HOF yet? Is it a hidden feature?
I plan to get the game after my useless protest is over next week (mon-tues).
Has there been any official comment on why they left out a HOF (if in fact it has been left out)?
Thanks

Perhaps the HOF is an easter egg that we have to find?

Don't need it. I play single player and no one else plays it on my PC. What would I want a HoF for?

Why wouldn't you want a hall of fame? I used to write some of my best civ1 scores in the back of the manual so i wouldn't lose them if i had to reinstall.
I like being able to comparre my resulting stats with my previous empires.

I'm happy just winning. Using the scores for comparison purposes is only valid if everything is exactly the same for every game.

Well if the design tema had the same view as Vince - I guess we don't have to wonder why...
BTW - have you ever been to the Baseball Hall of Fame? Even with rules changes over the years the institution is still useful...
There are a number of things that you can do to save HOF scores...
1) Just save the raw score and user id
2) Have the raw score and user id listed for each seperate galaxy size.
3) One of the first two options listed with more info (number of civs starting game, a screenshot of the final map, biggest fleet size, most economic power, etc.)
Its a hall of fame! So a year from now (if your still playing it) you don't have to say... wow this is my best game ever - or is it?
