I pledge to lead us to Alpha Centauri this term. I will continue the successful defense and trade programs that have worked out through my first term. As for changes, I will try to keep a bit better tabs on the cabinet to make sure they're doing what they're supposed to be doing.

My decision to run for President is in no way meant to denigrate ixnay's accomplishments in playing the sessions. He has done well.
However, I think we need a more activist President this next term. Most of you are familiar with my style of leadership from my past Presidential terms and approved of them (I hope).
As your President, I will not only follow the guidance of the Citizens and Ministers (of course), but I will be active in the discussions of each Cabinet position recommendations and I will help coordinate the competing needs of the Ministers. I will definitely work on keeping our search for good ideas on the straight and narrow path; the spirit as well as the letter of the rules.
Further, I promise more detailed narrative descriptions of the sessions, with side-comments and smilies.
Lastly, hey, competition for office is good for the game.
Vote "cavebear"

I suppose it's fair to ask... since the race is tied right now... what do we do if this ends in a tie? Let the brother of one of the candidates re-count the votes, like in the US?

a few months ago in th enovember election, we had it end in a tie after a 2nd round of voting, and it was decided that a vote by the cabinet members would break the tie
see here for the post-election discussion

Since when does banana run in contested races? I thought my election last term was an aberration.

Makes it hard to get a plurality, HTower.
I barely garnered 52% last time, since the banana got so many votes.
