Should I install patch 1.14?
I do not intend to play Internet or LAN games with PTW. I think I will stick to PBEM or Hot seat or even single player games.
I have seen people (mostly Dutch people) who had problems loading ptw after installing the patch. So I wondered if it is ok now to install it. From what I have heard it doesn't fix much for my type of games...
Can anyone tell me?

You should always add new patches if they're available, there's more changes in them than the obvious ones. And it's not like it will cost you anything. As for Dutch people having problems, they probably tried to install the US patch. European versions require a different one apparently. I can't give you anymore details since I've always had the US version and haven't had to deal with any of those problems.

don't patch for hotseat
Don't install the patch if you want to play hotseat! I did, and to my dismay with the latest patch ALL hotseat games are created at chieftain level. Things seem to be created just fine with no patch installed (1.01).
If you want, you can start a hotseat game, save, install the patch, then reload the game. But you will have to uninstall the patch and go through this process for every new hotseat game.
Oh.. and I'm also about convinced that PBEM doesn't work properly no matter what patch you have. Trust me you'll be happier at the end of the day if you just pretend this option doesn't exist.

Normally I would agree with you. But I have heard of problems in this patch that will create a bug where before the patch it was still ok. So in that case I doubt if I want to correct some things and create errors somewhere else!
The patch is also available in a UK version then? I will check which version I downloaded then. By the way I have a US civ3 version but a UK PTW....

In this case, I'm pretty sure you want the UK patch.

This is from the Civ III website, about patch 1.14f:
"For the US version only and is completely incompatible with any European version."
Don't know anything more than that I'm afraid, it's not an issue I've had to deal with, I've never had a problem with any of the patches. I'm not sure yet whether there has been a European patch either.

Yep, I have the UK version. Here on Apolyton they have both versions! I have not installed it yet though...
Still doubting because it seems to work fine....

Yes, I just saw the news. I will wait for the European version of 1.21f then. And hope it will be okay.
My brother wants to buy ptw so we can play pbem games. So it better be possible to play such games without major bugs!
