CM4 Demo is out !!!!!
Ok, I just downloaded it, was very easy and very good speeds.
I return later with some comments
http://www.sigames.com/downloads_view.php?id=301
the link holds multiple mirrors, the 4 one was the fastest (for me).

For people's information:
The file is 29.9MB.
Features disabled from demo:
Quote:
|
Ability to arrange friendly
Ability to cancel friendly
Send players for rehabilitation
Network / Internet / Hotseat Play
Sound Effects
Viewing a Full Match
Future Fees for players
Starting a new game
Background pictures
Assistants recommending players to clubs
Saving Highlights
Viewing other teams tactics
|
The presence of 'viewing a full match' and 'starting a new game' on there are a little confusing, but I'm sure alva will tell the whole class all about it soon.
also:
Quote:
|
Known Crashes
In team screens when you go to any other view apart from the Traditional and sort, it crashes
In fixture screens when you click on 'Show next fixture' when a team has no fixtures
|

I won my first game :
4-0 but the game simply dropped two of them.
Reported that bug immediatly but apparently it's a known and fixed for the final version.
oh FP, it's waaaaaaaaaaay better then cm3, the options are wooooow, the menu's are greeeeeeaaaaaaaat!!!
Well, what can I say about the 2d engine except for sssssssuuuuuuupppeeeeeeerbbbbbb.

So even though you won 4-0, after the game was over it only registered as a 2-0 win?
That's weird, but at least it's fixed for the full version.

What leagues can you choose to play in the demo?
All of them, or just the English Premiership?
/edit: It's also probably worth pointing out to other people who may read this that the demo is offically titled as a 'Beta Demo', which is SI's way of saying "expect it to be buggy". That's fine with me, though, I just want to play the damn thing.

Only the English premiership, is there any other
There will be a new demo 'soon' (about 14 days before the final release)
Straight to the SI forums...

off topic - i just wanted to say why does everyone assume it's so hard for dialup users to get large files? i've downloaded gta3, and daggerfall without getting disconnected and it only took a day or so. with a download manager like getright it's a snap to get files. getright will even auto redial if you get disconnected or if what you are dling is in segments it'll move onto the next one if you set it up right. getright!

I don't know why everyone does it, but I know why I do it: Because when I had a dial-up connection I found it very hard to download big files (like 50+MB) even with a download manager. Just speaking from personal experience, I'm glad you have found it easier than I did.
PS- broadband roXXorZ!
Anyway, back on topic.....

Probably because without a download manager, all your download is lost if you are disconnected. And (based on personal experience) you are disconnected a lot. One ISP disconnected people every 4 hours - it cost us a fortune just in phone bills.
But thats OT, so I'll leave now.

*Alex agrees with FP's last remark*
Well, I pretty much have a chance to try it now. I always wanted to know what is with all the fuss about these Championship Manager games. But I guess that even the final release won't have a Brazilian league, now will it?

The final release will certainly have a Brazilian league, even CM97/98 had that IIRC.

There will be 39 leagues in CM4. Ireland, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia, S. Africa, S. Korea, Scotland, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, USA, Wales, Yugoslavia are all included.

Alex I think you will be plesantly surprised to find an extensive Brasilian database in CM.
Who do you support by the way? The Fox network carries one Brasilian game a week up here in the States United.

Hey, first game alright!!!
Besides the demo only runs until januari (in-game yes )
So there real point in trying to change a complete team, now is there , or go for lower-league challenge.
Any serious questions?

Hey, I know how the CM-demos work but I'm not the kind of guy that lets reality stand in the way when I want to troll someone.

Nah, my computer can't handle it (for some reason it can't handle the old ones either, it keeps corrupting the save files ) as it's getting quite old. I'm planning to buy a new one just to be able to play CM 4.
Meanwhile I would like some information. I've always liked youth development, how is it with the reservs and such now? I've seen both reserves and a U19 team on some screenshot... Does it seem like there's greater opportunity to get and foster young talents in the new game?

I didn't really check that out, but I think you can even manage the -U19- team
Make sure to have a decent processor, the final version will be optimised, but even then a 1Gig is advisable IMO(if not a minimum).
(for playing for multiple leagues, I would say to get a 2Gig )
(your video card has to be able to do +1024*768 or windowed mode will not function.
Mine's a Geforce 1 sdr, so a any new will be better then this.
Do yourself a favour though and don't buy any of that Geforce 2 or 4 MMX crap. They are outdated before you buy them)
