F*cking Java
Is still disabled on my comp. What is going on? I have tried
Tools>
Internet Options>
Security>
Java Permissions:
Low safety
...and it does nothing. Ideas? Hotmail won't load up... webpages don't refresh after various actions, they just sit there - and I can't use all sorts of visual goodies!
Help

Not for me. I disabled Java on my browser though the redirect works fine.

Hotmail doesn't need Java AFAIK, and neither does webpage refreshing. It's something else.

There is only one solution, a complete reformat.

Half the time, that's the only thing that you can do for Wintel boxes. Most of the inner workings is like a big black blob, there is only so much an admin could do.

Be happy. I had to wait to get a version of Java compiled with gcc 3.2 from Blackdown just to get any Java support in Mozilla at all.

Doesn't Sun have J2SE RTE for download?

With 5 years of tech-supporting and repair on my back, I have to agree. The process involved in isolating most of errors is far too time-consuming.
The support guys where I work now have taken the consequence: If you haven't isolated the error in 15 minutes, reclone the workstation. They maintain about 15 different disk-images and that's it. No software-package distributions, no local software installs, no nothin': To clone or not to clone, THAT is the question...

Parse Error: Unknown TLA: "RTE"
(to make a long story short... I've done all sorts of things with Java on my computer except using it for anything senseful myself. I've tried different versions of Blackdown's and Sun's JRE, even downloaded and compiled Java 1.4.1 SDK of one kind or another from Sun at one part (it was one hefty big package, BTW, my HD sounded like a trash compressor taking care of rusk in the linking phase)... but what made the Java plugin work was the Blackdown JRE compiled with gcc 3.2 (not locally))
BTW, yes, I do know the difference between JRE and JDK...

Java != JavaScript
It sounds as if Zylka is having a JavaScript problem.

OmniDude,
15 images? Wow, that's a lot. At various places I worked for we never kept more than 5.
Ari,
Such is life.
St. Leo,
Probably.

Great, so what do I do? I downloaded "Java" from the aforementioned link, and it just gave me a program with a desktop startup icon of "Java Web Start"
Running this seemingly useless program gives me options of using a notepad, drawpad, "military games" and "Swingset 2"

Possibly. If you use IE, try to repair it by going to Add/Remove Programs

Well I kind of want to read the programming if it is "corrupt", to see all of the ripped pages, red felt slashes, and crude illustrated penis' strewn about
...must change to nice Zylka.... remember
