well the other thing to take into consideration is the different settings.... is the ladder x2x2king only?
if so, you know what polys response to that will be
if not, then as long as people dont cheat and that can be guarranteed, you may have some luck :b

As far as I can see poly plays 1x1x: Oz group, 2x1x: Rah group, 2x2x: most people not belonging to either group.
It's not settings ladder, agree on settings before play.
This will off course ean that when challenging someone who is higher ranked, you should play his settings probably.
But with different players this is a bopnus IMO

I think the 2 main camps will be 1x1x deity and 2x2x king (main camp). Either some preset compromise setting like 2x1x emperor will be played in the event of a dispute, or the ladder will, I fear, become solely 2x2x king.

Atawa:
Just a suggestion.
Why not try the reverse?
In the case of a difference in settings, have the higher ranked player accede to the lower.
This way the top ranked player has to be skilled in a variety of settings.

Good point indeed, but what sounds good in theory will never happen in the real world.
Most likely the higher ranked player (with more points at stake) will then just refuse to accept the challenge.

War4ever,
Which council do you refer to?
atawa: You would have to set rules on the number of challenges allowed. If you have a top player refusing to play anyone and sacrifice his position, you could remove him from the ladder.
*waits for EoN*

it was a Star Wars reference Obi wan......
yeah, i remmeber former champs of gameleague would reach the top, refuse challenges unless there were enough points involved, this would lead to inactivity, deletion/quitting and then coming back to reclaim the throne..
if the ladder is run fairly and not just x2x2king i would be very interested

Too bad you don't know what you're talking about war. If anything it's tougher to find a game when you're number 1 because all the players dodge you. And playing against someone with no points is useless when you're number 1. Better to play the top 15 to be worth my time. So next time think before you open your mouth, it just makes you sound stupid. And the reason nobody plays deity is because nobody wants to play deity. Your use of the word "fair" is not proper in this case. Just face the fact nobody uses Deity on ladders, you are of course more than welcome to play it, but you won't find anyone who wants to play it.

words, words, nothing but words from our "serious game player"
eyes, your like a boy in a dark wood, talking all the time with himself, for he has to fear the great big unknown.
you can only think in: great ok, or:loser who cant stand; oh poor eyes, poor eyes.
but its very generous you let the "stupid krauts" live their silly life for their own. dont think about them, only talk, and prodice endless word-snakes

From reading the "comments" from the serious players, it kind of makes you understand why others may find the concept of another ladder not worth the effort

ok, its not only the thing, that im not the greatest civver of all, also my english is bad. i know it, and in can understand your laughing about
in german i would say, it is "peinlich" what i wrote, so its not worth to translate.
on the other hand: if somebody of another country would come in our forum and would write something, we would try to answer to his arguments. maybe this is only a manner of the "old europa".
