Multiplayer level
Hi!

I sometimes play SMAC TCP/IP with some friends. On the start screen (the one where we select options, rules, etc), the human player may set a level for themselves ??! I know how the level affect the computer controlled factions but I wonder what this level selection for players is doing (since each player can choose his own level) ? Is there anyone who knows why players can select level ?

Thank you!

I don't know whether it actually *works* in IP, because I haven't tested it - but I assumed that each player could play at a different level in order to even out different ability levels in a group of players? It's certainly true that human players can play on different difficulty levels in the same PBEM game. I think this might be quite useful - the stronger player can take a handicap in the form of a higher difficulty level.
