I'll take it - you have my details right? ACT036 seems to be fairly dead, so I'm only involved in one game atm. I reckon I can spare another 5 mins a day or so from my revision.

DT 6 to 10 were started tonight. See 2nd post on the first page of this thread for details, and the multiplayer forum for the turn tracking threads.

And I'd just like to say (as an excuse for bumping this thread ) a big thank you to Red for starting these games and especially mine
3 days in and 48 individual turns played already - it's amazing how interesting, tense and (above all) fast-moving these one-on-ones can be. I particularly like playing a game where you don't have to worry about the rover rush. Just for a change, you understand.

I agree with Misotu. I like these fast-moving two-player DT games. It's nice to occasionally be able to finish a game in about a month instead of several months or in some cases more than a year.

Bump to celebrate Misotu's victory vs Paul in DT7 ! Not the fastest victory (fell short 1 year), but definitely the highest score and the quickest completion of the game. Congratulations
See 2nd post on 1st page for results

Edit: Apparently the new forums don't allow me to edit old posts so here are the results
Misotu wins by Transcendence in 2209, Score 2860 (Pop 328, Tech 75, Projects 675, Bonus 1782)

Hmmm, now there's an intriguing proposition - and one which I can't refuse, methinks - let's go for it
Can't promise to finish the game within a week, though

That's OK ... we can take two weeks if you like Seriously, my family were threatening to divorce me just before Paul and I finished our game, so a slightly less frenetic pace will be just fine
Aredhran, would you be willing to set up a game for Mark and I please?

I must say that I do miss the quick turnaround from DT7. Of course, I live alone, so I don't have to worry about my family wanting to divorce me.
Anyway, I would be interested in playing more DT games if anybody wants to play against me. You don't necessarily have to be able to finish the game in less than two weeks like Misotu.

I'm on a strict ration of SMAC playing time at the moment. It's kind of like being grounded, but in my case they force me to go out, blinking, into the daylight and do normal, everyday things involving real human contact and fresh air
I'm sorry to say that Tig isn't going to have time to play DT8 against me On the up side though, since Mark and I already agreed to have a match, I've asked Tig to send his turn and password off to Mark. I hope that's OK with Red - it saves having to set up another game and it means we can get going.

Daylight, human contact, fresh air? What are those?
I also just received an email from Tig saying that he could not play DT9. He offered to send the turn and his password to a replacement player if I could find one, so if anyone is interested in playing against me, you can get the turn and password from him. I had already played the first turn of the game.

As I said in my previous post, I was looking for someone to replace TigToad in DT9, so I would like to play against Hobbes.

Aredhran is apparently very busy, so we used the start of the DT4 game to start two new games:
DT11 - Misotu vs Tau Ceti
DT12 - Paul vs Mark13

Just one other thing to put on the board - Misotu won DT8, transcending in 2205 (a new DT record!). Can't remember for the life of me who against....

I looked up the old threads and here are the results of the DT games that haven't been posted yet:
DT7: Misotu vs Paul; Misotu transcended in 2209
DT8: Misotu vs Mark13; Misotu transcended in 2205
DT9: Paul vs Hobbes; Paul transcended in 2215
Misotu has a 100% DT record; we'll see how well she does against Tau Ceti who also has a 100% record, but with one less game played.

I might be interested mark13. I am playing my first multiplayer game right now though, so while I've played a bunch of SMAX games single player, I am not so experienced in multi. I have a few questions about this challenge though.
1) Is it SMAC rather than SMAX?
2) The military 'prohibitions' seem rather vague. Could we spell this out a bit more clearly?

Mark13:
Hey! I'd like to get into a DT Challenge as well. I like the concept.
I've just gotten into my first MP game myself, (AXT052) so I probably won't break any records... But at least I can take a good, educational thrashing! It would be nice to add a second game to my schedule as well. Let me know.

It is SMAC. And yes, we can set up a DT game for the two of you. With two relatively new players, it should be more interesting for you to play against each other, rather than play against more experienced players and losing without a chance.
I have the first turn and the password for the blue faction from DT4; Mark13 has the password for the white faction. The save will have me and Tau Ceti as leader names, but you can change that in the network menu.
Let me know if it's ok with you to play against each other and we can set up the game for you.

Hey, like Misotu and Tau Ceti, I too have a 100% DT record. (Unfortunately, mine involves 100% losses.) I'm interested in another game though. Anyone?

Paul:
I'm guessing you're refering to me and Sikander? I'm in if he is. Or Hobbes. I see what you're saying about playing "more experienced players", and getting trounced, but that might be a good thing in its own right. Besides, we might not get trounced...
I too am wondering about the military restrictions. What constitutes a "limited" (maybe it was "small-scale") engagement?
Has this been a problem in previous DTs? Could you offer up some examples?

I'm up for a game with Vitamin J.
Hey Vitamin J. Perhaps we should limit warfare with a rule such as:
No capturing enemy bases on their starting continent.
How about planet busters?
I think a few ground rules would make it clear enough.
Let me know what you think.
Sikander

Yeah - this has been an issue in previous DTs - limited military basically involves use of probes and the odd attacking military unit. Full-scale invasions are not permitted - neither are PBs
Anyway, looks like Sikander vs Vitamin j, Hobbes vs (?). Paul has the first blue turn of DT4, and so he can give whoever that and the password - I'll then give the other player the white password. Just let me know who to send it to and we'll be away

Maybe it's just me, but... The odd attacking military unit? Maybe we should say no non-probes on opposition homeland, and no bombardment of same, but anywhere else anything goes? Does that make sense?
Paul already has my email address. I'll try to message Sikander with mine.
