OK, let me see...
Map = standard
level = ?
age = 4 billion
all else = normal/default
victory conditions = ?
Civs: preferably european?
Cerberus = French
Ormuzd = Ottomans (I guess we can count them as European if no one else objects )
(when two people pick the same one;
It will be resolved by stone,paper,scissor?)
If you agree to this, I'll edit it in the first post

We can make something else - choose any civ and rename it. We are playing this way with Tiberius on Europe map.

true, but doesn't it get complicated?
I wouldn't mind dumping the two brits on their little cozy island
we'll just take west, south and north europe

And it seems I'm with Tiberius in one team, right?
so the teams are set, the settings too.
The civ choices are left. And the patch, of course

I could take the germans, if no one wants them. A german-ottoman alliance is not that strange, after all (at least not like a greek-ottoman one ).
What are the rules going to be in regard to cooperation between teams? For example, are we allowed to trade techs only with the team partner or with anyone?
Actually I'd like to see a rule that forbids peace treaties between teams! I'm not saying that we should fight all the time, but being in a continuous state of war would deny any exchanges between teams.

There is no warweariness in MP games.
(being at war, will limit diplomacy somewhat.)
Please, feel free to take any civ you want.
If we simply rename them, it looks as if there european.
(Same goes for team choice too,)
Any thoughts on the PTW victory conditions, or just traditional?
Level?
Map: pangea,... (it's probably to take pangea, not to get seperated with your team member)

Pangaea? It's going to be a bloodbath. I should have picked a civ with an early UU ...

Standard map will allow time to build-up.
You still change your choice.
(but as early rushes go, the germans are the best.
Direct acces to both archers and spearmen )

Even with Pangaea someone can get stuck on an island. Perhaps an archipelago map would be best. That is probably the most likely to ensure all civs are in contact even if only by galley.
I would suggest no trading techs between different teams. That encourages the team members to work together on science. However allowing normal trading of resources, communications and maps would be reasonable.
We have to decide what is allowed before making contact in the game. Certainly there should be no co-ordinating research before then and no agreements to attack someone else together.
Options are;
1 No contact allowed.
2 One exchange of minimaps at the start to help contact.
3 Exchanging minimaps allowed and general communication by email.
I will go with the French whatever is agreed. It is quite sadistic to crush an opponent using a horde of pink units.

Cerb, do you mean even no co-ordination amongst the team ? (as in the team member alliances)
If you want, I could ask someone to generate a map and check it out and even make sure the start-ups are fair.

If European civs I'll be Spanish.
If we don't mind renaming, I'll be the Koreans and rename (to what I am not sure). Maybe revive the old kingdom of Kent.

I'd prefer no contact until we meet in the game, and no trading of map info except through the game.

I mean no co-ordination until contact in the game. That means no co-ordinating research or military activity. Once the two teammates have found each other in the game then they are allowed to co-operate fully.
This means finding your teammate quickly is very important.
I would say no contact whatsoever before meeting in the game. The other team game PBEM I am in is being played that way although it is too early to tell how it will work out.
I will take a chance on whatever map we play but a continents map can really make life difficult if the members of a team are unable to make contact until the end of the medieval so a pangaea or archipelago would be a safer choice. I don't think it needs to be checked out as long as there is a reasonable chance of not being isolated.

So, not even giving directions to yoru ally, saying "I'm in northern emisphere to the west".
Hmm, ok
(There could a big advantage for teams that find each others very quickly)
btw: It's possible for europeans to install 1.21 and fix it.
(if you want more info, PM me)

So are we just waiting for the patch for European versions?
If you start and then patch mid-game does it get messed up?

There is no evidence it will, but the euro version is likely to out in a couple of days, I don't see any harm in waiting a little more.
Besides, a couple of things are still undecided.
See the first post for updates etc. and please inform me if something is incorrect or if I have missed something
thank you.
Have a nice day

I wasn't going to rename the Koreans to Spanish, rather something else. I was going be the Spanish if I 'couldn't' be Koreans as it was suggested we wanted European civs. So, unless we plan to play a European game with real European civs and names (in which case I will be Spanish) I would customize the Korean civ.
Hope that's clear.
I'll post any customization details once I know what we are doing.

As for the level, I'd go for Monarch, with Regent being my second choice.
