This looks pretty cool. I only have had a chance to briefly look at the game's web site, but when I get a chance to read a little more, I may join the game. I haven't read all 10 pages of posts yet so please let me know who is next in line to receive the bonus for inviting someone in case I decide to join. If/when I do decide to join I can send them a message to find out how, etc.

Datajack: WHY IS YOUR GOVT. INDEX SO LOW?
|
Hell, who knows why
It's probably the HUGE amount of money wasted after taking Boox Backyard's loans.. I forgot that corporations had debts as well, and you know, a destroyed company gives its loans to the country -aka Datajack
I sold every offensive-strategic weapon except ammo, so I can cut defence budget and build new clothes industries quickly
Let's hope my polish "friends" on the south don't declare war on me or it will really be the end

Datajack: that's quite worrisome. I'd suggest a massive cut on defence, and welfare, coupled with a revamping of your corporation, and the rasing of the corp. tax.
You must take your finances out of the dumpster.

I've been making profits from my service and high tech corps, but my fish corp has made a loss recently. So I've taken the money and run, so to speak. I used the money to pay off a debt, and I've invested in 2 new companies.
So, I'm steadily making gains

Question:
What happens if you close a corporation? Do you get any cash for it?

If your corp is in debt, then the debt is transferred to the owner ie: your country or your enterprise.

That's a ****ing stupid rule, btw Skanky. the stockholders of bankrupt corps. don't owe anything in real life don't they?
If there is a problem, ****ing refuse credit and be done with it. or make a special nieche market for extremely high risk loans with enormous percentages. I am sorry, the world bank already does that, AND it transfers the debt to the parent company.

I think it's a gameplay reason. Imagine racking up 200B in debt for 10 companies by withholding their product forever, then dumping it on the market when the price is high (thanks to the new graphing website!) and closing all the companies!
The graphing site IS by the way: White Giant Market Graphs

Amalgamated Synapses just looked at it and we wonder why you would want to sell it? It looks like a good, strong corporation.

Since Nation States got a forum, I wonder what our chances are of us getting a forum of our own?

Yes, but the question was why the mechanic was in the game: to prevent what I described from happening.

Malleus- great idea- maybe you should ask the mods about it?

I concur with malleus...
But it is a stupid rule, I agree. Surely there should be some form of reputation, and banks don't give loans if you are in large debt, or something.

It measures how much of your income you spend on the government. Reduce the amount of money that is dumping into your various areas and it should go up...or increase your income.
(At least, this is how I understand it.)

Damn, some of these countries are really screwed. =/ I just had to cancel my current country less than a day after joining simply because its map was buggy. All my infrastructure existed, but wouldn't work, because it didn't show up on the map.

Actually, it's either that, or to make your corps. more profitable.
In any case, cut down on offense, streamline your country generally, like lower SC payments, close some overthetop schools....

Ubinia is steadily improving. The country's assests have grown to be four times as large as when I first took control, and the corporate value is up to 284.59B from ~40.00B.
I'm still struggling to make some of my corporations more profitable, however, and I have two new corporations in production: peanuts and cotton. (I'll then have an industry for every argicultural product minus the cattle feed)
Oh, and I asked for an invite to the Apolyton Federation.

The map only gets updated once every few days. The effects of new roads and rails are still there though.
