I am not a US citizen and I oppose the war whether the UNSC approves it or not. The US has broken too many diplomatic arms for UNSC approval to be genuine.

I oppose the war whether of the SC decision, but I wouldn't care much about it
if UN approves the attack. Not an US citizen.

I declare this an illegitimate poll because it lacks an option for the fence sitters and a banana option.

Latest numbers from ICM show 52% of the British population opposed to war, the highest since polling on the subject began...

well I was against the war before.
But now I realize that we must stand strong and not appear weak.
We may not be doing this for all the right reasons, but it doesn't matter. We have to make a stand and save face. Again that is a bad reason to go to war, but I feel it is important in showing the world that we can't be pushed around and that we are not soft americans. And of course getting oil down to $10 a barrel would be nice too . Again that is another wrong reason. But war is rarely fought for the right reasons.

Isn't the poll about UN approval? It's for the fence sitters.

you forgot one
I am a US citizen and want a declaration of war issued by congress and an affirmative vote from the UNSC before we go to war.

the problem is we are waiting on Turkey. I don't think they will put up another vote for their parliment next week.
we should consider moving the transports through the canal now. It takes like 10 days to get to the persian gulf. I think my carrier can do it in a lot less, but a carrier is also one of the fastest ships on the navy.

I'm a US citizen, and although I don't like war in Iraq, it looks like a foregone conclusion; and if we back out now, it'll be even more disasterous for Bush and America.
I'm a US citizen, and I really don't give too much of a damn about that part of the world, and only hope I won't be burying my as-yet-unborn children because of some terrorist attack; and I sure hope that whatever Bush is stirring up there won't be the death knell for America.
I'm a US citizen, and as long as this warmongering doesn't spread to North Korea, I'm fine.

This poll leaves out a lot. If we don't go with UN approval, that doesn't mean we 'go it alone'.

The poll starter is in error.
UNSCR 1441 gives authority for war, so UNLESS a resolution is passed nullifing it, the US ALREADY has SC approval.
Which is all meaningless, since UNSC approval, like France's objections, are ENTIRELY based on self interest, not what's best.

i used to be against the war, but a lot of my friends in the military are very much for it, and as they're the buggers who are actually going to be doing the fighting then i feel the least i can do is support it

it's not so much that. i'm absolutely mortified that i might fail to raise my kids in a non-liberal environment, so they'll get some stupid silly idea like going to those places to "help" other people.
damn kids these days. always going on and on about this stupid "community service" bs.

US citizen and dont think we should go it alone.
Why pis$ away strong alliances built since WW2 over a tinpot like saddam? It's also too damn expensive. Take care of our own first before going off on far-flung expeditions.

we're not going there to help people.
we are going there to lowe the price of a barrel of oil to close to $10
We are there to show we are the strongest nation, not some weak nation that will back down against a bully who defies us .
It has nothing to do with helping people.

That doesn't make any difference - it is perception which counts. And if you go it alone, the rest of the world will hate the US with a vengence, and not without reason.

Good point.
I discounted UN's previous approval, as it has turned into intolerable feet dragging.

Since I'll be giving a year of my life (maybe the rest of it if the winds happen to be right) for this enterprise, I think I'll say lets get the damn thing done with.

The UN is impotent. They make "demands" and invariably waffle.

Support US:
All-Minus France and Germany.
Oppose US
France and Germany.
And believe me, the hate will be spread, and rightfully so.

Cite please. I've read the text of 1441, and nowhere does it give any authorization of military action if its terms are not met. It simply says Iraq faces "dire consequences" should the UN not be satisfied with its compliance. And it's up to the UN to decide what those consequences should be.

After the briefings we had this weekend, any illusions of a good year were brought back to cold reality. Lets just say that after it was all over with, I added some more onto my insurance just to be sure my family would be protected. Thankfully what I added was really cheap since I got it through my National Guard Association and they pay out within 24 hours upon notification of death. That way my family won't have to be in a bind until my other insurance makes it's way through the paperwork.
