Date for PTW 1.21f European patch
Please tell me it's out soon!!! I cant play online with my 1.14f version as everyone seems to have switched to the new one. So can some one let me know when?
No pressure or anything but today would be nice
Cheers

It´s just a mystery to me, why infogrames release the so called "european patch" weeks or months later....
And even managed it to bug the german version.
Where is the difference between US and UK ? There is no translation involved, so why the delay ?!

Different disk copy protection implied by infogrames. So it's up to them to release/fix it for the european version.

Anyone know off-hand how long it was last time between the US patch and the UK/Euro patch? (Not that that is any guide I guess?)

At least 2 weeks. The infogames UK website had the 1.14f patch on 9th Dec. I just don't know when the US version was released.

I'm bouncing this back into play as I STILL have no answer
Does anyone know when the European patch will be available or is this the beginning of US sanctions against Europe???

Offhand, I'd guess that maybe the reason you haven't got an answer is because no one knows?

The civ-addict european, we would have to make him arrive at Firaxis a complaint so that the distributor in Europe is not Infogrames. Infogrames is dreg.

Are we ever going to get an English version European patch? It's taking almost as long to update the 'anti-piracy' device as it has to develop the new patch. Or maybe Europe isn't as important as America to a French company?

I suggest we start emailing european infogrames support centers. I already emailed the Dutch one at
helpdesk@nl.infogrames.com
Let them know that a 3 week delay between the US and European version is simply unacceptable.
Infogrames UK has a contact form online at
http://www.infogrames.co.uk/?pg=contact_form
Which I used initially because I didn't know the NL address, they kindly referred me to the correct address so if you don't know where to start, start at the page above.
Please email them, it's the only way they'll know we're still interested in a patch.

I emailed Infogrames UK conserning the patch and today I got their reply. They claim that they are working on it and they'll post it soon. Now why it takes so long, is beyond me. Maybe we'll have it soon. Maybe...

Enclosed is a copy of the message I sent to PR Infogrames UK and Infogrames US:
Quote:
|
Dear Infogrames,
I was hoping that somebody could clear up, once and for all, the issue of why it is taking so long for a 1.21f patch for the european version of civ III PTW.
As a programmer I am acutely aware of the problems of branching code. I find it hard to believe that modern software, with the advances in localization techniques, requires branched source code. I'm sure that there must be a good reason why this was done, I just can't think of what it could be and Infogrames has never publicised the reasons for this decision.
As I'm sure your aware, there are many problems playing PTW if the version numbers don't match. For example, no one is their right mind with 1.14f would play someone with 1.01f, and no one running 1.21f plays vs 1.14f. Therefore by releasing a patch to one bunch of players and not others, Infogrames has effectively halfed the number of people I can play with... for an expansion that is all about multiplayer gaming, dividing the community in half is a public relations disaster.
Ok, so the US patch came first. I don't have a problem with that if that's where the dough is... but to have to wait for more that a few weeks to restore my ability to play anyone in the US is simply not acceptable. I don't mean to be rude, but what the hell is going on at Infogrames? Think, people, think!
I, along with many other players, would like a response to this issue. Unfortunately I don't have enough confidence in Infogrames to even expect a response to this email. I challege you: surprise me.
Sincerely,
Pete

PTW came out in Europe some weeks back, and just days before did the 1.29 patch come out for the regular Civ3 game.
Using that time frame it will take EONS for Infragames to get out a 1.21 patch for the european PTW. I truly hope your petition works out guys
