BTW the term is "Sheila", mate. As in "I went down the pub and sank a few foams with me mates and then met this Sheila with the biggest knockers you ever saw and pashed her up in the bogs - got a load of free fags out of it too. Anyway, I took her to my mate's place and rooted her silly, but when I woke up I realised she was a real mole, so I bolted faster than a Maori with a video and went downtown for a feed of fish and chips."
Ah local slang (a friend of mine tells such stories). The "fag" one (means cigarette in NZ and the UK) has got me into trouble in Canada. I said to someone I was going to light up a fag and they thought I meant a sort of hate crime.
OK - I'll start the quit thread tomorrow.

I don't know - I wouldn't trade JI for Lemieux - the old horse hasn't got many races left (though he'll still win most of them).

Lemieux is a real team player -- look at his assist points this year.

Oh yes - he's the best, but I think JI is worth more as the Flames have him for a few years, yes?

Well if this year is any indication, JI is downhill too.

How can the Flames not trade Iginla? They're last in the conference WITH him, how much worse would they be without him? He's certainly not worth the dollars he's getting paid. I say trade him to the Rangers, let him wallow in crap for a few years, so that he may come out of it with a better understanding of priorities.
Sometimes getting 2 million dollars a year isn't a bad thing, Jarome!
Actually, maybe after he wises up, and the collective bargaining agreement goes through, he'll come back home to the Oilers...
New dynasty, anyone?

It's simple: he *IS* the team.
He's the reason the Flames have 14,000 season ticket holders in a facility with a max cap of 18,000, and still nearly sell out every game even though they're almost last in the league...
The real reason the Flames are doing so horribly is our goaltending. Our offense is usually pretty good, Turek is one of the worst goalies in the league (including backups) statistics-wise.

Ah, you may be right...
... but Alberta's still 5-0 at the Brier!
HA!
...
Wait a minute, you're from Alberta, too. Damn! You always win!

Wow, I didn't realize Salo is ranked lower than Turek this season.
Hahhah.

Yeah, well... Anson Carter's still got 4 more points than Iginla!
So there!
And Kevin Lowe is at least 6 times as attractive as Craig Button.

What's important to note is that New York is used as the template for all other cities to be compared against..
NYC, NYC, NYC, NYC!!! GO NEW YORK!
As for standard of living, I do think European cities is general have a better standard of living than most US cities. They have a lot of thing to do, much lower violent crime in general, and European schools and basic healthcare is on average bettern than their counterparts in the US.
If you are very well of, best to live in the US. If you are not, better to live in Europe, as far as I see it.

This is one year old.
The new survey was released on Monday. Frisco dropped from #18 to #20, and Amsterdam climbed from #12 to #10
I can't seem to find the new list anywhere, but here's the press release:

Iginla is downhill this year??? He must be averaging two points a game in 2003. Sure he struggled at the beginning of the season, but I blame the coach. Look at what he's down since Sutter took over.

dallas and austin aren't even listed....I find it hard to believe that Austin would not be extremely high in the quality of life and cleanliness grids, and dallas up there in the quality of life...

He's doing pretty well now, but still not on the level he was for the entire season last year.
I would blame his injury before more than the coach.

Here's something interesting: http://www.nationalpost.com/national...14A6A616A64%7D
The World Health Organization branded Calgary, Sault Ste. Marie, Fort McMurray, Brockville, and Rainy River as "safe cities", the only such cities designated in Canada.
I don't understand the concept of the safe city designation though.
