World just remember...
The enemy came on our land. They killed thousands of our citizens. They shot first in an act of war. It was not terrorism, it was an act of war. Once again the sleeping giant has awakened. This time 58 years later when he is much bigger and stronger then ever before. I mean just look at the sheer size of the US striking force which is now in the Persian Gulf region. People I am talking a minimum of 6 aircraft carriers! We are also armed with MOHAB, which for those who do not know is a 20,000lb laser guided bomb. Although not exactly nuclear, it is very similar to a small nuclear bomb. When this bomb is dropped on IRAQ in the beginning of the war it will be downright devastating. Saddam's people are fools for not assasinating him. I guess because of all of the lies he fed his people about how bad the US are. So Mr Saddam, you think we are bad? Well you have not seen anything yet!

Yamamoto's quote of having awaken a sleeping giant is well put. The world should realize what a US reaction to death on it soil means. They would all be well served to do so.

hmm yeah I'm scared. I'm scared because I'm as responsible for that mass murder as are the iraqis. Maybe next it's us, the europeans you decide need a little "regime change". After all Mr. Chirac, Schroeder and rest of the europeans havent been licking your ass enough.

Dear prinze
You would be advised to lurk on the iraq and terror related threads awhile before postin.
While I as an American understand the way our outlook has change since 9/11, you must realize that for most non-americans and some AMericans their outlook has not changed. When they see posts like yours their first response is ha - the iraqis arent implicated in 9/11, americans are crazy warmongers, who might attack anywhere. It has therefore been necessary to carefully explain the links between 9/11 and the current situation, from "connect the dot
evidence of Iraqi ties to terrorism (thought not directly to 9/11) to the growing concern about WMD in the hands of this kind of regime, to the huge American stake in changing the status quo in the middle east. Welcome, learn, and i hope you can contribute.

So if you kill my mother, I am justified in killing some guy who pissed me off 12 years ago as a response? I'll keep that in mind.

It didn't explain much of anything, other than the same tired, thin old excuses. Although the part about breaking up the status quo is interesting. Sounds like aggressive imperialism to me!

Plato :
With your logic, Sept. 11 was a justified reaction to the mass murders in Palestine.
I mean it. Had you been an Arab, you'd have said such nonsense, because it follows exactly the same stupid logic.

I stand corrected. I am not unsympathetic to the plight of the Palestinians. Nor am I unsympathetic to the plight of the Israelis(who have been victims of mass murder). To degrade into 1st causes is not a worthwhile exercise.
My point is that the US has a unique opportunity to bring about real change. That opportunity has existed in many ways that the US has not taken advantage of. It, sadly, took the deaths of thousands of Americans to move the country into action.
If the question is :"does 9/11 justify war in Iraq?" then the answer is unequivocally "NO".
If the question is: "Is regime change in Iraq a necessary thing for peace and stability?" along with "Does the US seem more threatened post 9/11" Then I will say that the answers are both "Yes" and they are both related.
BTW Spiffor, I posted a couple of things in the "Iraq agrees to destruction of missles" thread to answer the question you asked me the other day.
