When looking at the scores of the two PBEM games I'm playing, it looks pretty weird... in this one, I've got the highest scores, but in the other game, I've got the lowest scores...

In the early stages of a game the score seems to be very sensitive. How fast you get cities hooked up to a luxury, whether cities have access to a bonus resource giving more than 2 food from a tile and how fast you produce settlers all make a difference.
1200BC to Ghengis.

It's difficult to get a high score when you're so close to Mighty Persia.

turn sent to ralph
I think nobody plays with the vikings - this was one of the limitations. But after this we removed(?) the unique units, returned them back, removed and I'm already confused with all this.
However, I think there is no Vikings tribe.

1175BC (or 573 in the Britannian timescale) sent to ADG.
Lord British has something to announce and will do this by posting a screenshot of the website we are preparing about this game:

sent to Ghengis.
Congrats to Lord British.
The Ottomans feel pleased that their decision to research something else first and then pick up mapmaking (which they will get next turn) cheaply after everyone else has struggled to be first to build the Great Lighthouse seems to be vindicated.

So far it's on a local Apache on my home server and unaccessible from the public web. You have to hack my firewall to see it. And don't try to Google it. I will publish it, when the game is over. May be portions earlier.

Who's name? Apache is a webserver program for *NIX, as opposed to the IIS for Windows.

Cerberus advises Eli to research mapmaking soon. The turn after Sir Ralph finished the stone candle thingy the Ottomans research time to mapmaking dropped from 5 turns to 1 turn and they were able to reduce the science slider from 80% to 20% and make some money.

I didn't research it. I found it in a hut on a nearby island. Honest!
EDIT: Nice Xpost, Ghengis.

That is strange. The value of a tech isn't supposed to drop after a wonder is built. Only the internal value for the AI is supposed to drop (i.e. the AI won't buy Music Theory for lots of money after Bach's is built). Are you sure you aren't an AI, Cerberus? Fishy... Can you keep the 2 saves, before and after?

I only have the last turn ADG sent to me so I can't check it. However I am sure that when the Lighthouse was completed I was still a few turns away from the tech at 80% and when I opened the turn it was virtually given to me.
I don't think it was the Lighthouse being built. I assumed it was because everyone else had the tech. I thought the research needed reduced for each civ that has the tech. It can't be only for each known civ because that would get very complicated on continents maps surely. Also if you start a game with a lot of scientific civs you think will find it slightly easier to research bronze working.
I did found a new town and a couple of others may have increased in population but that should not have been enough to boost research that much.
Oh, and I am not an AI. Now please excuse me whilst I go and recharge my batteries.

There is a rumour that they removed WW in multiplayer games. Did they change anything else I wonder?

He found Mapmaking from a Goody Hut on a nearby island. Does anyone else notice a slight glitch in this explanation?
