Trade Report 1888 AD
We have 16 Freights active and 4 in production. 4 are Food near Seville. 8 are on a Transport near Vigo (Hides, Spice, 2 Silk, Gold, Salt, Oil, Wool). 2 Golds are on a Transport near Kerman. 1 Silver is on land near Kerman. 1 Oil is on land at Amazon Island.

The 2 Golds and the Silver near Kerman would face a perilous journey along much enemy coastline to get to any city Mongol/Celt city that demands them. Even escorted (1 non-vet Destroyer), I expect the Transport would be lost. I suggest we deliver them (undemanded) to the nearest large Mongol cities and get what we can.

The 8 Freight Transport near Vigo is escorted by a Cruiser, and there is a second Cruiser in Vigo that could go along in Vigo. 3 of the Freights are demanded by Jap/Chin cities and the rest would probably get a decent trade value anyway. I suggest we unload them all (over several turns) and get what we can from them. One alternative would be to return the undemanded Freights to Homeland for SS/Wonder use. Or we could unload the undemanded Freight in Vigo and hope they become demanded soon.

The 4 Foods should stay where they are until needed.

The Oil at Amazon Island could be picked up by the Transport being completed next turn at St. Praski and then returned there or to CAPITOL for delivery. No other civs demand Oil right now.

Discussion? I don't see a question clear enough to poll.

The silver (Chii) is demanded by Canton, and Chii is size 4 and celebrating - should only take 4 turns to get it to Canton if we can get the transports back in alignment. Should bring a nice sum

Something to keep in mind about freight - if they bring more than 200 gold, straight up they are worth more as trade commodities - 50 shields of a wonder cost 200 to buy, also the freights bring extra science. If a city has 1 total shield production, it costs almost 150 gold to rush a freight the 2nd turn. Some undemanded freights should even be able to pull that.

No discussion on freights to build? commodities built in CAPITOL should be able to easily do more than 200 gold, even domestically. I was kind of hoping for comments on my proposed build schedule, since i did include a number of freights (i think 12 on build next). If you don't want the freight built for trade/SS parts, we can modify it somewhat, although it could significantly slow building of our Space ship.

I'd say keep up the schedule of food vans since we now have spaceflight.

We'll only need 15 in total to cover the entire SS structurals, assuming a small spaceship.

Who's going to poll for spaceship size?

if another elected official wants to put up a poll, feel free - i won't be able to until tomorrow night. For a couple space ship sizes, you can always refer to Cavebear's post in the Great Library thread under spaceships if you want a few to choose from (i'd lean towards the 15.33.111, 15.7 yr vs the 33.88.111, 5.7 one, although others could be added too)

I don't want to step on any of the other minister's toes.

BTW- your terminology is somewhat confusing:

That should be

15;3,3;1,1,1.

or 33;8,8;1,1,1.

In my experience, the risk of a skinny (15;3,3;1,1,1) ship is that someone steals your technologies and then builds the fat boy (33;8,8;1,1,1) and lands the year before you do. I suspect that with our resources we can build a fat boy only a couple of turns after the skinny, so that would give us an earlier landing at less risk.

With a large industrial civ like ours, we really should opt for the 33,8,8,1,1,1 SS. It greatly reduced the ability of the AI to get at our Capitol. And if we don't build the faster SS, the AI will!

If you read that thread in the GL, notice that everytime I replayed the ending and launched my SS sooner, the AI just cheated more effectively and built a faster one. Eventually though, I improved my launch beyons the AI ability to surpass my ship.

If we poll about the SS, though, that seems like a Science project.
