Poll:Do we allow extinct teams to join others and when?
Now that Lux is eliminated, its time to vote including on a coling off period. Keep in mind that a turn has averaged 34 hours, and with Lux out will average about 28 hours. The cooling off period was suggested so secrets become less valuable.

I vote for immediate. I don't believe the "secrets" held by privious team members are big enough to effect the turnout of the game as a whole.

Immediately. They can relay any information they want as of... anytime they wanted to. They do not have to be on a team for that. There is no reason to forbid them entry to new teams.

A couple of weeks would not hurt anyone, and it will give teams enough time to contact exiting members and court those members they want.
It will also give exiting members a chance to weigh up their options. For example RP has said that they will only take 2 or 3. We dont want to see a mad rush of Luxians scrambling over each other for only 2 positions.
I think a new thread where interested Luxians who want to join another team can post their details, and then the surviving teams can contact them in an orderly fashion.
Teams will have their own rules on who they can and can not accept, and Luxians can post their prefered teams. Lets just do it an orderly fashion and be open and honest about our preferences.
It's only a game, and there will be no hard feelings. The GoW would surely welcome additional membership.

No real reason for them not to be part of this game...

Well, not to get ahead of things, but the poll is looking pretty definitive. Get those applications ready, ex-Luxers; there be all new teams a-waitin' for you!

I voted up to 2 weeks. But I really mean 1 week.
It will take them that long anyways to find a team they want to join.

I voted inmediately mainly for one reason: There is no point on making rules that cannot be followed or enforced to be followed. If someone wants to "join" another team he will do it anyway. Maybe he won't have access to the forum, but nothing stops him from going to the chat rooms, PMing team members, receiving the save, etc.

One question though that I have is this: Suppose there are only two teams left and it's either a race for space ship or a conquest thing (the latter being more likely). Does that mean there will be 50+ people on either team? And if so, does that mean Trip (for example) can rise through the ranks of the team that took him on as a refugee and lead them as a President or Emperor?
Two options on this:
1. If yes, then that would be a testament to the player.
2. If no, then.....
For 2, if the answer is no, then there would be an established hierarchy in the teams themselves almost, a sort of status-quo....in which it would seem that only original members could hold ministerial or Presidential positions....
I'm sure maybe some of you can elaborate more on this after some thought. As for me, I'm too damned tired to get much further into it at the moment.

Mesh, I doubt many (real) new members will sign up from now on, but many will quit.
It's not gonna hurt having a few extra members around to even make it a team game instead of a regular PBEM one.

Well what I meant was, is it to be possible that a refugee join a team and then perhaps several several turns down the road get elected into office? SHOULD it be possible?

Of course it should be possible. If the other team elects them, under whatever system of laws they have, then so be it. It's nobody else's business how a team runs its internal affairs, refugees or not.
