Whatchu talkin'n 'bout Willis? We ain't got no missile shield. We have what proports to be a missile shield. It can't defend us from ****. Only reason it even gets close to the target is because the tests are faked.
If the damned thing worked, I'd be all for it. I'm pissed because they're deploying it long before it has an practical capabilities.

Why? I would think that you, of all people, would be against things that increased US freedom of action.

I don't think that a single world government would be feasible at the current point.
and a lot of the military spending will remain. The number of people unwilling to submit to the power of the WG will be high, as well as multiple areas around the world where the local authority is non-existant.
I don't think we have the logistics yet to pull it off, though I wouldn't mind paying less taxes to the national government, and more to the OWG. The amount of things we'll be able to do... global projects, enormous amount of money going on research...
But that's impossible. we'll have to standartize education, and decide on a single language, and even europe cannot agree on that... pfft.

Should the world vote on US pres. election?
|
Sure, only you have to give one person = one vote... and let the US control the entire world. America's elite wouldn't like what would get elected though.

Sounds rather fanboyish to me.

Of a few people around the world dreaming of deciding a presidential election. Why stop there, why not voting in congressional elections, deciding what is taught in schools. It just seems a little like someone was day dreaming about what would be a super cool idea with very few practical thoughts about the subject. Unless they are going to let Americans vote in their elections.

Well that would be a quick way to a united world but no elitists would like what would get elected as they would all loose... and the chinese would have 1/5 th of all votes... US would just become a region of the new world government - and huh I can bet we would get some Chinese guy elected - or perhaps Indian ...

Perhaps arrogent would describe this proposal better. I just get the image of some young american hater sitting in his flat thinking how much better the world would be with american decisions being decided from Europe and other places.

First let the American people choose their president 1 person 1 vote ..
Actually, I could not support such a thing, I wholeheartedly support the US,Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the UK joining together, but thats not a political union as such, more of an economic one with close political ties, Id still want a US president, UK/Austalian/New Zealander/Canadian prime ministers .
Put it this way, would the US want 60 million French citizens voting in their elections ??? and probably vica versa ???? NOOO
If you want to vote for the US president, immigrate !
A world government could never work (in our lifetime anyway), the best we can hope for is peaceful alliances, and like minded democracies, and we don't even get that between democracies, so what hope have we of a world Government.. NONE.

Every time I think I've seen the goofiest idea possible at ACS, I am corrected.
Congrats, carnide.
You the man, currently.

In due time, Romans had to expand the Roman citizenship.

I see no reason why a huge senate/parliament, like the EU parliament (EU has no president) could not have some seats reserved for US and others voters.
