Civ 2 and Windows ME -help!
I finally got a nice new computer last week with the Windows ME operating system running on it, but when I tried to install the add on disks to Civ2, error messages came up & the add ons wouldn't install (despite the original Civ 2 installing without any problems). Can anyone help me?

You may need indeo drivers for some game functions particulary video. My older civ2MGE had some problems with winME, but a recent release of it that included indeo drivers on the disk worked fine. IIRC corectly indeo driver are produce by intel and are avilable from there web site; I do not know the URL. I do not have the IT skills to pick them out of my computer and transmit them.

I don't have any ME experience - wouldn't let it close to my machine, but there is a similar sounding problem using 98SE - the fix there is to use Ctrl-Alt-Del to bring up the task manager and to remove all the background tasks leaving only Explorer and Systray running - CiC & FW then install without problems - hope this helps - if it does please post to that effect - we seem to get this problem or something related about once a month on these boards ........

Yep, that works!
Thank you Scouuse Gits, I can now get back to playing a five year old game on my five week old computer.
