well I'm not sure I have played 10 of them
Baldur's Gate 2. I still play this game.
Fallout 2. Another great RPG. This is set in the post-apocalyptic future. It was a bit buggy on release, but still an amazing game.
Fallout 1. Just about as good as Fallout 2 essentually, just not as big.
Bard's Tale Series
Neverwinter Nights- this game isn't great at single player. But I have a lot of fun in multiplayer with this game.
Wasteland- old 80's post-apocalptic game for the C64- later made for the PC.
Diablo 2- yeah I know this is really an action game where you can improve your stats. But I loved it.
Planescape: Torment
Icewind Dale 1 and 2.
Diablo 1
Morrowind
The Gold Box series for the C64. It would be higher, but I can barely remember them. So how good could it have been?

Both Fallouts. There may not be a third, I am really dissapointed. Fallout Tactics doesn't count
I just realized I haven't played much RPG on PC... I have even missed Baldurs Gates, everyone keeps talking about them.

Ultima II, IV
Wizardry 6, 7, 8
The Summoning
Fallout
Morrow Wind
I guess I didn't play that many RPG's.

I forgot about Ultima IV
although I must say I have never actually finished an Ultima game . I was really too young to complete a tough game like Ultima IV.
And after my C64 days, I went years without a computer. I dind't get back into RPG's until Fallout and Baldur's Gate came out.

Sorry Vesayen, but first of all this is the wrong forum, second of all nobody seems
to be able to mention over half-a-dozen good RPG's.
I hope you aren't angry because of this. If you are, flame via PM, not via forums.

Planescape Torment is the ultimate RPG.
Fallout 1 and 2 are the excellent RPGs.
Baldur's Gate 2 is the most enjoying RPG, although there is not lot "Role-Playing" in this game.
Baldur's Gate 1 and Icewind Dale were enjoyable. Especially the BG1 saved the Dungeon and Dragon genre.
I hate all RPGs prior to Fallout 1. FP dungeon crawling is just soooo boring.

Well, if one counts rpg's on consoles, my list is roughly this:
Chrono Trigger
FF VII
FF IX
Secret of Mana
Suikoden (And S 2)
The Adventures of Alundra
Parasite Eve
Secret of Evermore (It's good, really)
Terranigma
FF VIII
FFX
Action rpg's, mostly. Come to think of it, I haven't even played any PC rpg's.
Oops there's 12 of them, oh well...

Ultima V (will always be my special one!)
Baldur's Gate
Ultima VII, pts 1 and 2
Neverwinter Nights
FF VII
Diablo 2 (Hey, it's enough of an RPG for me!)
Ultima IV
Pool of Radiance
That's all I can think of, as I am not a big RPG player. I have played every Ultima game, however. How sad it is that the final installment, U9, would top my list as the single worst "RPG" (ha!) ever made.

Thief 1/2 are rpg's-a role playing game puts you in the role of some non-existant character in his world with the apropriate atmosphere.........do many games do that better then thief 1 and ESPECIALLY thief2?

Arena
Daggerfall
(Morrowind in 3 months and counting)
Might and Magic: World of Xeen (MM IV & V)
FF 2, 3 (NA Version), 7
Ultima 6, 7, 7 expansions (serpents isle, silver seed, forge of virtue, etc)
Diablo 2 (kinda...)
Wizardry 8. One of the most underrated and entertaining CRPGs out there. Not to be confused with the awful Wizardry Gold.
I never really got into the Bioware games much.
I think Ultima 7 was probably the best. Very sandboxy.
Daggerfall was buggy and Wizardy 8 is too short.

The only one I have is NWN. I played Diablo II, but hated it (far, far too much clicking).

Baldur's Gate I and II (2 being a better game, 1 having a better plot and development IMHO) Both with a lot more RPing (in terms of character creation, philosphy, ideals etc.) than they seem, and quite possibly the most addictive game I've ever played. I don't think it's actually possible to do schoolwork with this game on your computer.
Phantasy Star I - the series was good, but almost nothing comes close to the original. Very addictive, I lost months of my life to this game.
Ultima IV - Another great Master System game, very big on ethics. You can tell a lot about a person by what character they play. Rule Brittania
Final Fantasy VII - The only one in the series I still play, very addictive, but what's with the names
System Shock II - Probably the scariest game I've ever played, I still have nightmares about big zombie creatures hiding around corners, or big robot thingys that scare the crap out of you when you realise it's escaped. Far better than SSI IMHO.
Then a whole host of Megadrive (Genesis, depending on continent) and SNES titles that were great (or not so great, but with much nostalgia attached) such as Landstalker, Chrono Trigger, The Secret of Mana, various Final Fantasys, and one of my favs, Buck Rogers.

BG2 is a poor role-playing game, it screws anyone over who is trying to play evil.
And regardless of what answer you give in most dialogues, the outcome is the same. What does that have to do with RP?
